Japanese Firmware without reprovisioning...

So i contacted a guy i know about getting my 903 flashed and i asked him if he was able to put the jap firmware on for me but get rid of the reprovisioning screens, this is the reply i got...

I found a solution from other forums. You have to flashed it with chinese
firmware unlock first, turn it on(#+power on), then master reset from the
menu, check the firmware(should be chinese) then flashed it again with jap
firmware unlock and re-provisioning should be gone until you master reset
your phone. Thanks to laser to this solution.

Any of you guys heard of this solution before? if it works as he says it sounds great because i never use master reset anyway.

And yes i do know that timsta has a version of the jap firmware without repro that can do master reset, but he isnt one to share...

geez.. u make it sound so bad that i want to keep the firmware around my local city.

if any one is tryin to reach me since yesterday and today. i have been standing in line getting xbox 360's... so... i haven't slept yet. so i will begin hibernation onw.

man... i've seen a lot of discussions saying how Timsta doesn't share his version of firmware... give him a break!
I don't think anyone of us is that generous to just "share" something that is of our own intellectual property that could,
perhaps, earn us a decent amount of money.

Im not trying to tell him its unfair, and it definately is fair enough to make money from it.
I have offered to pay for the firmware and offered to post my phone to him and yet no luck.
besides i was wondering if anyone has heard of this alternate method?

first of all. you read the wrong post. the guy who said that is wrong. it should be:

Flash to chinese. Power on regular (#+poweron is for restoring phones). Master Reset. Flash back to JP, unlock and do not do Master Reset.

However, this process has not been verified working. The only person I know who has done it is Timmah above. And he used another method that is all his own.

well this process works. i have tried it. however there seems to be alot of leftover settings from the euro firmware. repro is gone, and all the rest is JP firmware. its pretty good.

now i just gotta figure out how to do the AAC m4a trick for ringtones. well try it anyways. i haven`t tried it yet.

what is "reprovisioning"?

repro is something that the japanese firmware has. when vodafone kk customers travel overseas with their phones, the repro menu is something that pops up when customers travel to different countries (or when the sim is changed). if you say yes to the repro, the phone will connect and get the necessary settings for your handset so that the GPRS in the phone will work. after repro is complete, the customer may then use their phone to send cha-mail and other sexy stuff back to friends/family in japan.

we, who unlock our phones, do not need this feature. Even if we say yes to the repro, the phone will not update the settings as the sim card inserted will be rejected by vodafone for gprs settings updating and nothing will happen (an error might). so for us who use this phone, it is a real pain the the but to say NO to the repro each and every time we press MENU.

as it stands for the moment. we are able to remove the reprovisioning, however, if you do a master reset or change sim cards the repro will come back. so far only my bud timsta has managed to remove repro without these penalties.
