do u need bitpim to download stuff onto the vx 8100?
i would be very thankful for any advice on whether to use it or not and the process on how to use it

That depends on whether or not you have a minisd card....If you have one, then you don't need necessarily need bitpim.

If you don't, you will need either bitpim or QPST (I recommend bitpim). As far as helping you with bitpim, there are tons of threads on the topic. Use the search feature of the forum. I will only answer specific questions that haven't been addressed or aren't commonly asked/answered in the other threads.

I needed it, For the 9800 they tell me the 8100 is the same phone w/o the bells and whistles.

You can climb a wall with a rope but the key to the door will produce fewer blisters.
