(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ive searched, and read through all the post that came up. a whole 7 posts came back....

What can my i870 do? My GF's razor was able to connect to another razor and transfer ringtons, #'s, ETC.

I did search so keep flaming to a minimum. Thanks!

Also, my motorola, usb adapter, the piece where the sd card plugs into, not the piece where the actual card goes into, the piece tht plugs into the comp. Now i called nextel, and she told me to take it to a nextel repair center and they might replace it. Anyone have this problem so far? i mean i can get the piece to work, but i have to play with it forever befoer the green light goes on....

Like the Razr you can connect to another 870/bluetooth device and transfer files but there is a size limit, I believe people have managed to chenge the size limit
I had problems with my 32mb card, the reader would most the time say no card found, but once I got the 256mb card I have had no problems with it

i have a BT USB adapter for my laptop, and the phone connects, and has a virtual serial port type connection, but webjal, phonebook manager, etc won't connect.

i have sent and received files to other phones, Razr's mostly. I'm still wondering if I can use BT headphones for the MP3 player.... before i go out and spend $100 on them to find out they don't work.

yea i kinda wondered too. my friends razor could only send pics and that was it. he tried sending me ringers it wouldnt let me...they sure make sure u can only use webjal to load ringers dont they?

The 870 can transfer images to and from Bluetooth-enabled computers and other Bluetooth devices. According to multiple sources, Bluetooth stereo headphones will not work with this handset because the 870 does not support the necessary Bluetooth profile to send audio in stereo.

To/from other BT phones:

Send/receive photos, movies, and contacts
Use a headset but only for phone calls and MP3s coded in 8bit MONO

Computer/PDA

Same as above +
Use phone as a BT modem for packet switched data

The obex suprised me. I thought with the merger the bluetooth would be locked down like it is on sprint phones. It's nice you can use it to send files etc and not just for a headset. Hopefully future Nextel bluetooth models will keep these freedoms that sprint and verizon are so stingy about.

With the creation of "a virtual serial port" via BT, what has been your experience with using GPS (with a program such as Streets & Trips)?
I'dd be very curious to know if this works.

Any forward locked or protected media will not transfer via BT. Basicly the same things that download manager can transfer via usb.
However, contact info, datebook events, etc. can also be transfered to any other BT device that uses the OBEX (CVX) protocal.

Moved to software

you can't listen mp3's via BT head seat. Maybe with a firmware upgrade in the future.

Thanks for reminding me about that.

The BT modem works great, see thread: http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=763026

I'll give it a shot Joel and let ya know.

Update....

Doesn't seem that Streets & Trips 2002 is working with BT. The serial port that was assigned to the phone (COM 10) is not available in the GPS set up list in S&T 2002.

I didn't feel like paying for 2006, I barely use the program, and i have Telenav. Less hardware to lug around.

, MY GF HAS THE RAZOR, i have the i870. my mp3's are on the mem card.
I know i sound dubm, but how do you transfer ringtones/images. Just connect devices and click send?

someone who has succesfully sent an image/mp3 can ya let me know how ya did it? its bugging me out, i really would like to know how.

also, how would i change the file limit size of uploading, ive tried to upload vids, and it says size exceeded, thanks guys, and YES I DID SEARCH

You can't send MP3s or movies* but while viewing a photo click Menu/Transfer/Bluetooth/ then select the device you want to sent it to.

*Unitl someone on HoFo fingures out a way to modify the phone to do so

thanks for the reply, i figured it out how to send pics, i figured it couldnt send movies......yet....

neither media center nor audio player will allow mp3 playback through my moto hs850. such a bummer too! although in a way i'm sure its a blessing b/c it would surely devour the battery on the BT.

i have a family guy on sd card. it plays thru the media player, and it plays fine with my BT head set.
