I actually see and hear the Mac communicating with the RAZR before it fails. Is my modem script wrong? |

I suggest you choose a bunch of songs and follow this procedure for the whole batch. I realize this procedure is probably clunky compared to using audacity. But if you don't want to learn a new program, this is the way to go. The Razr will play mp3 songs as ringtones. In fact, it ships with some mp3s right in the ringtone list. |

When you say that the file wants to try to copy over as MP4, are you working with an MP3 song to begin with? If not, you need to convert it and if it's not a protected file from the music store, you can simply click on the song > Advanced > Convert to MP3. If it's a protected file, you need to burn it to disk first, then reimport it into your library as an MP3. Ras1121 - what folder are you copying your MP3 into and how are you trying to play it on your phone? Can you send a copy of the MP3 that you're working with and I can see if it will copy/play on my phone. That way you can isolate it to either a problem with your phone or a problem with the file itself. |

Now why won't it work on the PB? Gai, did you install anything or modify anything? Did you plug in the USB cable as soon as you got the phone without changing anything? If your running 10.3.9 and it charges fine, maybe there's something wrong with the 10.4.3 OS that won't allow it to charge. You seem to be the only person who made a post that's saying your V3c charges. Maybe it is the 10.4.3. |

To edit the "flip open" picture: 1. Close all programs. 2. Connect your phone to pc via USB 3. Open bitpim 4. Expand your phones file system by double clicking on the folder to the left. If all is well and it expands skip tp step 6. 5. If you get a COM connection error: click Edit up top, then settings. Next to COM port you will see a "browse" button. Click that, then under "available ports" click "motorola USB modem". If this is under "unavailable ports" unplug the usb cord (computer side) and plug it back in. Hit refresh. Do this until "motorola usb modem" appears under available ports. Choose it, and click ok. Click ok again. 6. In the expanded view, you will see a folder named "mobile". Click it. 7. To the right you will see verizon.gif right click on that and choose "save". Save this file to the desktop or a folder in case you want to restore the verizon logo. 8. Right click on verizon.gif again and choose "overwrite" 9. Browse to the file you want on the front flip. Make sure it is within the proper size 96x80 pixels. 10. Double click the new file in the browser window, or click it, then click open. 11. The file will be uploaded to your phone. 12. Unplug usb cable and power down phone. Power on your phone, flip open and smile!! ** this post is for informational purposed only and not sanctioned by verizon. I can not be responsible if you fry your phone. Good luck, and enjoy!! |

I got the Contacts and Calendar synced (iSync) the first day but hadn't known for sure that I could get it to work as a modem. If you're browsing this forum looking for the answer, yes, it did work as a modem. In various places in HowardForums, you'll see info on how to turn off EVDO and use 1X in order to get it to work as a modem. I initially did that and first got it to work that way, but then I turned back on EVDO and it still worked, at 14.4kbps (and, yes, the phone was showing "EV" so I did have EVDO service at the time). Basically, I did the equivalent of dialing up on a land line. 1) I used Bluetooth and when I was configuring it. When I went to configure the Bluetooth Mobile Phone Set Up, I set it to "Dial a specific access number". I then set it up to dial my work network as my ISP. I set the modem script as "Verizon Support (PC 5220)" which apparently is included in Mac OSX (at least for 10.4.3). I didn't seem to need to install any other modem script. 2) I wonder about the need for the MTU reduction. If you have problems with dropped connections, then try it. But I wouldn't do it unless you need to. From what I read, this is/was a problem in Verizon's DSL networks a few years ago. It isn't clear to me that this would carry over to the Verizon Wireless networks. Certainly most ISPs don't require a reduced MTU and I didn't see an explanation of why Verizon DSL was different. In my case, it is clear that this isn't needed. (If it were needed, I would have needed it if I dialed up on a land line to this ISP.) 3) The lookupd bug is completely orthogonal to the use of the cellular service to access the internet. It appears this bug was understood in late September but I don't see it listed as something that was fixed in the 10.4.3 (late Oct.). If it wasn't fixed then, I'd expect it fixed soon. Got through, very slow, then got dumped. Apple's Internet Connect is now scrolling the message "disconnecting" in the menu bar, program was quit, phone is now OFF, and looks like I'll have to reboot, or process quit if I can. I used the "Verizon Support 5220" modem script. The person much earlier in this thread NEVER responded as to where they got some Verizon National Access modem script thus we can't test or answer that post, duh? I did a few hours of reading on Internet, google searches etc. Seems Verizon's "National Access" was once free or included in certain plans, but they want our money, so I'm assuming at this point it's a major reason I can't make this phone work as modem through the #777 connection. I have a basic plan and checked it online as well. Some had said earlier plans allowed for the use of just ones minutes, but I think those were all very old messages and threads. I'm willing to try other suggestions, just for fun.
UPDATE: 1-7-06 4:18pm EST Rebooted, was able to bluetooth connect via laptop and D-Link Dongle. Then tried the access to web via the dial-up info for my DSL 56k info using "Internet Connect", again very slow, did not get dumped right away this time, but can't seem to DISCONNECT from Internet Connect button. Had to end the connection from the END button on V3c phone, and "disconnecting" is still scrolling in menu bar, and now am unable to BlueTooth connect to phone itself, says "Unable to validate device". Rebooting the last time solved this, no easy to see "process" in "Activity Monitor" to quit either. Seems this is a real mess so far. No joy here. |
