I think this is what Verizon and/or Motorola mean by they "Don't support Macs". The question is what signal are they getting to distinguish the Mac from other "authorized" chargers. It may not be that there is something in the phone that says "We don't support Macs". It could be that the USB driver on the Mac doesn't respond properly to a request from the phone. There's a class of USB devices that are chargers. Perhaps the Mac doesn't identify itself as a charger device to the phone or doesn't announce (or perhaps doesn't have) the capabilities required by the phone. (See http://www.usb.org/developers/devclass_docs/pdcv10.pdf ) This may be a good thing to figure out how to fix via a seem edit, or to get Apple to change their USB handling. But it is going to take a lot more technical knowledge of the USB protocols and what is required by the phone and announced by the Mac in terms of the Mac being a charger. |

With any of the firmware for the V3c (or e815) that's "out there", can bluetooth DUN be enabled, AND does it utilize the full "broadband" speeds that Verizon offers with their $60/mo unlimited data plan.. (where available) ? Has anybody got this to work, using the bluetooth connection to get Internet access on their Powerbook? And... how about the Motorola e815? Is the same thing possible? My dad's getting that phone right now, as well as a MacBook Pro, because of my recommendation for this purpose, and I'm hoping I haven't led him down the wrong path - I've only ever used a Treo with bluetooth DUN. I realize I will have to help him hack/flash the phone settings (thanks Verizon!) but I want to make sure it is possible at least, or whether I should recommend him a different phone. |

The mobile folder (containing verizon.gif) shows up fine, and I was able to change verizon.gif with no problem. However, when I click on the folders in motorola/shared (pictures, ringtone, audio, etc) they show up as empty. However, on my PC using BitPim, I can see the things in those folders just fine and transfer them.
I'd really like to be able to do everything on my Mac, as I don't use my PC normally, and it's a pain to hook a monitor, keyboard, etc. up to it just to use it for one little thing. Has anyone seen this problem on their Mac, and do you know of a solution? |

I didn't want to be without a phone for the rest of the day so I tried just about everything. Here's how to fix this situation without a PC. 1. Remove the battery. 2. Plug the phone in via USB and wait for the "Cannot Charge Battery" screen to show up. 3. Run Bitpim and overwrite the bad skin with one of the skins from the Verizon filesystem. 4. Reboot the phone. If all goes properly, the phone will boot properly and everything will be fine. |

There is a note at the bottom of the iSync device support page saying that calendar syncing is not supported for the Verizon version of the V3c. I have the Verizon V3c, and with Brian Toth's V3c iSync plugin, calendar syncing works fine for me. If I'm going to lose that, I'm not so sure I'm interested in updating. Anyone know anything about this? If I upgrade and then reinstall Brian Toth's plugin, do you think iSync will use it and correctly sync calendars?
There are at least two other fixes listed in this upgrade that I've been specifically hoping for, but I don't want to upgrade if it's going to break my ability to sync my phone. |

I tried the newer iSync tonight and while it works you don't have a great of flexibility. With OnSync the control is phenomenal and you can also changed the Speed Dial locations without deleting the previous entry in the speed dial location. I use Speed Dial for entries 1-9 only. Its great Apple now supports the V3c. I haven't tried it with iCal but I think it will work on USCC V3c since it has the Moto UI. |
