Where did you find a place in Ical to change how many days to sync ahead to? I checked preferences and did not see an option to change.

My mistake. Its in iSync. See below.

Posted by: neato_nj

I found that syncing 2 months or more didn't work properly, but one month worked fine. While I'd like to sync more, I'm happy that at least I can get a month sync'ed until they come out with a fix.

I have a Verizon RAZR VC3 and I flashed the firmware .02 so OBEX transfers are enabled. I bought a Bluetooth adapter and connected it to my phone. I paired my phone with my computer and then I go to Browse Device. I click Browse and it says its validating device... but then it says unable to validate device. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

eMac --> 10.4.6

Posted by: neato_nj

Try deleting the device from the Bluetooth settings and then set it up again. Just a guess.

Posted by: reeveshary

How did you get the firmwAr .02? Can I do it on a Mac? How did you do it?

Posted by: RJSim

I have tried deleting the device from the Bluetooth settings and setting it up again. I've tried repairing the permissions. I've tried restarting my phone, the computer... anything else? It should be so simple; there is just something throwing it off. Let me know.

Posted by: THEdAY

here is an apple image that can be used in replace of your openwave image. drag and drop image to desktop, make sure you delete the .gif extension and overwrite the original "open_wave_splash" with this one with same name. all this can be done with bitpim.

Wirelessly posted (moto razr v3c via nweb: Mozilla/5.0 [en] (Windows NT 5.0; U))

Why did you buy an adapter for the phone? Or was that just typed wrong?

Posted by: RJSim

My bad... I connected the adapter to my computer and then connected my phone via the Bluetooth adapter. This whole situation is getting frustrating... I've searched all over and can't figure out why its not able to validate my device. There's gotta be someone out there smart enough to figure this out. The challenge is on...

I'm not that smart but perhaps it has to do with the flash...maybe flash it again? Sure glad U.S. Cellular allows full BT.

mine had the same problem at one time. i repaired disk permissions several times until it started working again.

thenamcam-
I've tried repairing disk permissions a bunch of times. I've also tried trashing the bluetooth prefs... I've tried resetting up the phone several times... I thought there might be a conflict with iSync so I trashed those prefs... Today, I'm going to a different Mac to see if I can do it there. Also, here is what my bluetooth prefs say about my phone. Maybe this will help someone.

Thanks everybody for there help thus far. I really appreciate it.

I don't see any differences that would make a difference between our two phones. What could be causing this problem?

I have no clue other than perhaps how the flash was done to the older VZW version.

Posted by: RJSim

fincher-
How did you flash your phone? I'd like to try your way. I still want the Verizon flash, not the Alltel. I would appreciate it.

Posted by: fincher

I didn't flash it at all. I'm a USCC customer and its the stock firmware. The only thing I had changed was the outside graphic...which was done a PC by a friend.

Posted by: DEXTERITY

I would really appreciate some clarification. I stopped reading at page 8 because my head was going to explode.

I have the razr from Verizon. A dual 2.0 G5 and a G4. The G5 has bluetooth. The phone is discoverable via bluetooth. It will not sync with Isync (granted). I have 10.3.9 and isync 1.5. All I want to do is get my contacts off the computer which are from my v710 even if it is with the usb cable or a seem edit..

1) Is the only way I am going to be able to back up/transfer my contacts (the v710 did it fine, the only good thing the piece of trash did) is if I have 10.4 and the newer version of isync you guys mentioned and perform the hack? I dont want to start messing with things and jack something up if it won't work with my current version of OSX.

2) Also, currently I cant exchange any files via bluetooth. When I goto exchange files it says "device does not have necessary privelages."
Do I need the hack for this to work also, or should it work as is. i would love to transfer over some mp3's. Or do they have to be a certain size for the transfer to work?

Thanks in advance...

Now I'm in the same boat as my wife's new Pink RZR VC3. Can someone tell us all how to flash to verizon .02 so we can have obex again? I don't really like the negatives of flashing to US Celluar. So far no one knows how to flash to verizon's .02 so file transfer works again. At least I don't see a post at all.

Posted by: RJSim

So I can file transfer on a PC via USB but still no luck on my Mac with Bluetooth. Do you think its my adapter? It recognizes the phone; just won't validate device when I Browse device. Any suggestions?

Posted by: fincher

I use a D-Link BT adapter on one of my Macs. Works flawlessly.

Ok, instead of slapping you silly....

1. OBEX stands for Object Exchange via Bluetooth, which will allow you to move files from your computer or PDA to your phone (audio, video, pictures)*

2. You willl probably get a V3c with Verizon Firmware .03 which does not contain OBEX

3. OBEX is in Verizon Firmware .02.

4. OBEX in both of the Verizon Firmwares do not contain OPP (Object Push Profile) so you can not connect to other phones.

5. Full OBEX is in the Alltel Firmware .03 and .04, full meaning OBEX with OPP.

*Note OBEX has nothing to do with Dial Up Networking (DUN) or Headset connecting via Bluetooth. OBEX is a "profile" as are DUN and Headset. Profiles are little programs that allow your phone to function in the manner that the manufacturer, or in the case of Verizon, provider wants your phone's Bluetooth to function. All the firmwares currently support DUN and Headset profiles.

While Apple has officially disabled calendar syncronization in the latest version of iSync (the one included in 10.4.6), here is how to re-enable it:

http://www.briantoth.com/razr_v3c/editmeta.php

The reason is that seemingly calendar sync has problems if you have more than a certain number of calendar events. So iSync will only work with a small number of calendar events.

my phone crashed, so they gave me a new one with .03. last pm, i flashed it back ot .02 without a problem, and is fully functional. erased allt eh old bluetooth stuff, and re-established new connections. no prob with obex. the new prob is with DUN. can get it to work. it states that: No carrier detected. Please check phone line connection and try again. what is going on and how can i correct this?

Thanks for your response!! I dont think that it is worth it (for me) to flash the firmware. Without flashing the firmware, can I still sync contacts and calendar events. Also, can I use the phone as a modem to connect my computer to the internet? I know people that have done this, but is it possible on the Razr

Thanks a lot for your continued help!!!

You need to run this Applescript to remove CHAP when you are trying to authenticate. Copy the text below into Script Editor and save it as an Application:

display dialog "This script disables CHAP support in Mac OS X.

You will now be asked for your admin password
in order to modify a system file (/etc/ppp/options)." buttons "OK"
set normal_command to "touch /etc/ppp/options;chmod a+w /etc/ppp/options;echo \"refuse-chap
refuse-mschap
refuse-mschap-v2\" > /etc/ppp/options;chmod a-w /etc/ppp/options"
do shell script "sh -c " & quoted form of normal_command with administrator privileges
display dialog "Thank you.

To re-enable CHAP authentication, remove
the /etc/ppp/options file." buttons "OK" giving up after 5

Contacts sync fine with the Verizon firmware, but calendars are buggy--especially alarms. The calendar syncs fine with the Alltel flash.

Posted by: fincher

Also syncs fine with USCC version.

How did you flash it back to .02? It seems everyone is going the alltel way. Did you use a mac or a pc?

I have heard of people using their verizon E815 to connect their computer to the internet through their cell phone for free (w/o using minutes)? Is this possible on the Razr???

Thanks a lot...any help/info is appreciated

I'm just trying to find out how to flash to verizon's .02. I heard today that verizon was sued for not allowing people to use the OBEX file system that came from motorola. I heard they lost. Why are we going through so many hoops if they lost and should allow us to use this software.

Technically they didn't lose because there was no OBEX, they more or less lost a case of false advertising because they didn't advise the v710 people that the bluetooth software was altered. Since they now state on their website:
"The RAZR V3c supports the Wireless Headset & Handsfree Bluetooth Profiles. It does not support Bluetooth object transfer (OBEX) profiles. Accessories sold separately. See Bluetooth for details." They can no longer be held liable if someone doesn't read the details about what is included on the phones.

Are you paying Verizon for the Mobile Web 2.0 service? You need that too, or atleast I have it.

You don't need to subscribe to mobile web to use DUN.

So the option of emailing myself a photo/graphic and using it as wallpaper works beautifully. I tried the same thing with an MP3 files and when I go to save it, it must reformat to a ".qcp" file? Now, the file plays on the phone BUT it's SO low. I thought it was the way I was saving my MP3 files but I tried different qualities but I get the same result. Anybody have an idea of what's going on?

I actually had the same issue -- I thought it was my original file that had a low volume, but after playing with it in Audacity and turning up the "gain" (which clearly made it louder on my computer), the file still had a fairly low volume on my phone. Gave up on it since I don't have the time to deal with it, but if anyone can figure out how to make the file play louder without leaving the master volume on "ear-splitting" :-), it'd be appreciated...

10.4: Verizon and Telus calendar sync fix for RAZR/Mac

http://www.macosxhints.com/article....58482&lsrc=osxh

I managed to remove the Verizon (also Telus) limit on iSyncing my Razr VC3 CDMA with iCal. I have been trying hacks for weeks, and had almost given up when I read another macosxhints tip. I also decided to try sync-repair from NovaMedia (linked near the bottom of the page) to officially start over in modifying the metaclasses.plist file. If you see an exclamation mark next to your phone in the iSync window, this repair is meant to fix that.

After running the repair software, I then went back into the metaclasses.plist file (see the linked hint for help finding this file), found the code for calendar syncing the VC3 for Verizon, changed false to true (in the supportsCalendarsSync key) with TextEdit, saved, and ... wow ...it worked! I can now sync my Telus Razr CDMA with iCal.

This was tested on 10.4.6 with iSync 2.2.

Please help.

I have the Razr v.3. Mac OS 10.4.6 and iSync 2.2

Just purchased the phone from Verizon. Had the phone using iSync 2.1 and no problems. I upgraded to OS 10.4.6 with iSync 2.2 and now nothing works. I've tried just about everthing (I can think of). I even tried downgrading to iSync 2.1 when it still worked. Now, that doesn't even work.

Using iSync 2.2 I get the following error.

[Razr] An unexpected error occured.
Device "Razr" synchronization failed

That it. Helpful ain't it?

Can someone please help or point me in the right direction? All, I want is my contacts back.

thanks in advance.

I've had my Verizon V3c for a couple weeks now. I did the metaclass edit to get it to work with iSync and that was great!

Now I have flashed my phone with the Altel software and have lost my iSync-ability. I can still pair the V3c and do OBEX, just won't work with iSync.

Could it be because I changed the name of the phone in the Bluetooth settings?

Suggetions?

alltel should work great. i would delete the paring and resetup the phone. keep in mind if you are running tiger you will have to modify the metaclasses plist file for isync to be able to sync the calandar. once you make the change, you should be working fine!

I ended up doing a software update to get iSync 2.2 and then I changed the calendar setting in the metaclass to <true/>

Seems to be working now. Is namcam MACMAN backwards?

10.4.6, + new .04 firmware works:

Also a note for all Mac Users, using 10.4.6 (The latest Mac OS X Update) Apple's iSync officially supports contact synchronization, but the best part is plugging it in with a USB cable charges the phone over USB!!!

Must be the .04, since I have 10.4.6 and it still does NOT charge via USB port on my laptop, then again this old TiPB G4 has the old usb 1.1, or whatever it was, not the latest. I am sitting pat with the original Verizon/Moto firmware as I enjoy the dumb BlueTooth ability. Verizon is really criminal, but you read that everywhere, greedy, 10 cents a text message, 25 cents to send or recieve a photo, and I refuse to pay yet another monthly fee for what should be FREE in the first place, moving photos to my HD. Anyways, thanks for the update info, it must be way cool to be able to charge from the computer, wish I could......

Supposedly the new .04 firmware is now available at the Verizon stores. See:
http://cavemonkey50.com/2006/04/ver...sfers-on-razrs/

Posted by: kev21986

I just did the upgrade and .02 to .04 and bluetooth still works. it also fixed the calendar syncing for me. I had to clear all of the events in the phone first. Somehow I had 500 events that didnt show up in the calendar and that was part of wat was stopping it from syncing.

bluetooth works with .04 if upgraded from .02
iSync 2.2 syncs calendar
menu responds a lot faster
didnt lose any contancts/photos/events/speed dials on the phone

Posted by: RJSim

I posted this problem before but I'm still high and dry without Bluetooth working. Here is what happened. I bought a V3c that came with .03 and promptly flashed it to .02. I bought a Bluetooth dongle so I can transfer junk over to my eMac that is running OS 10.4.6. I paired my phone with the computer and this is what it says in the Bluetooth prefs...

Device Name: Motorola RAZR V3c

Device Address: 00-17-00-77-bf-96
Device Type: Phone
Device Services: Headset Voice Gateway, Handsfree Voice Gateway, OBEX File Transfer, Dial-Up Networking Gateway

Paired: Yes
Configured: Yes
Favorite: Yes
Connected: No
Serial Port: Yes

I then go to Browse device, says it is "Validating device...", and then receive after 30 seconds "Unable to validate device." I've tried deleting the bluetooth prefs and trying it again. I've tried reflashing my phone to .02. I've tried repairing permissions several times. Yes, the bluetooth power is set to "on" on my phone. I'm slowly losing my mind. It should work. Why isn't it? Thanks for your help in advance.

I just flshed from .03 to.02 then had Verizon flash it up to.04.

So far everything still works fine OBEX and all contacts are there. iSync does the contact thing fine but I have never gotten iCal to sync.

Did u ever do the metaclass plist edit?
I have no events on my phone at all.

iSync 2.2
10.4.6

Has anyone moved from .03 to .04 firmware and found a positive (or negative) effect on calendar synching? I'm on OS 10.4.6 and iSync 2.2 with Brian Toth V3c patch.

Posted by: Zips

You need to go back to .02 if you want OBEX on. You can have verizon update you to .04.

Worked for me!

Yes I used the toth metaclass.plist edit.

Posted by: reeveshary

Did you find a good way to flash to .02 keeping the Verizon technology software? Can you point me in the right direction? Can you send me a link?

Posted by: Lovely Man

Can anyone confirm that upgrading the firmware to .04 will NOT affect the ability to sync calendars using the editmetaclasses trick?

I want the faster UI, but not at the expense of losing the calendar functionality.

Thanks!

Did you re-pair your phone after updating to .04? I find it hard to believe that Verizon left OBEX support on the phone. Also, have you tried Bluetooth DUN? Lastly, can you copy and paste what you see in Bluetooth Preferences for what your phone now supports with the .04 firmware? I may just give it a shot myself and I'll report back what I find.

Very interesting, very tempting. I'm sitting on my .02, and since being on a Mac, have not been able to try any SEEM edits, so it's virgin so to speak. But can I really trust a Verizon sales dude, to use the right upgrade in the first place to .04? I may wait until theres a way for us Apple users to flash backwards. Thanks for the INFO!

OBEX Calendar works on .04 with the metaclass edit.

You can trust verizon to upgrade you straight from .02 to .04. Only going in this direction will conserve OBEX. 03 does not contain OBEX so this means that going from .03 to .04 will not turn on or give you OBEX.

Flashing is actually really easy and everything needed minus PST can be found on howard. However, you need a PC.

Whoa snap, that's rad to hear! Do you have to go into a Verizon store to do the upgrade or can it be done over the air? Has anybody seen the firmware file (GATW_X_01.0F.04P) hit the web yet?

Did u ever do the metaclass plist edit?
I have no events on my phone at all.

iSync 2.2
10.4.6

Yes i had to enable the Calendar Sync in the plist file. That didnt do it for .02 but after i got .04 i tried it just for kicks and it worked fine. one note on the subject some how i had 500 (the max calendar events) with no date. After doing an erase all on the phone .02 wouldnt sync but .04 did. the sync will get an error if there is 500 events on the phone.

what i have read is that Verizon didnt include the obex in .04 but doesnt remove it in .04. so if you upgrade from .03 u wont get OBEX but if you already have OBEX in .02 and do the upgrade it wont remove it.

Has anyone tried to flash/seem edit/mod their phones using a new Intel Mac and Boot Camp? Our new Mac mini is on the way and I was just wondering if anyone has gotten this to work...?

Posted by: kev21986

havent tried it but i cant see why it wouldnt work. if u boot into windows then it shouldnt matter wat kind of pc it is (ie. dell, hp, APPLE). I was a pc guy up until i got my macbook pro so i just use my old pcs wen i need to hack my phone.

I just read 33 pages of this thread. So im sorry if this was answered in the last 12 pages or so.

I want to transfer ring tones to my dad's v3c. I am using bitpim 0.8.13 and a usb data cable.
I try to transfer them to /motorola/shared/audio but i receive an error that that folder is locked. I don't know what to do from here.

Help?

Posted by: kev21986

I had never heard of anyone using bitpim on a mac before. are you on a mac or pc? I haven't used bitpim in a long time so i dont no. if you have a pc try p2k commander.

I've tried it on a Mac. Its not for me.

i've used bitpim with my mac. all i've been able to do with it though was change the outside screen and the opening anime. for ringers, the email trick worked well.

Yes. I've been to the site several times. AFIK, the outside graphic can only be changed via a seem edit and I do not see anything on changing the outside graphic there.

So, you were able to change the outside display graphic using Bitpim without a seem edit... all on a Mac?

Posted by: swankmetal

aha. you are correct. i guess i must've found them on here somewhere. i'll do some digging.

Posted by: swankmetal

well, this might have been where i saw it. it says to use p2k... though. i used bitpim with the same instructions and it worked just fine.

Ok, i have iSync 2.2 and I got it to recognize my phone, but for some reason (as in the second post) I cannot browse the device's folders. it says it is not supported.
What am I doing wrong!? I have verizon. I dont know if its locked or unlocked. I dont know how to unlock it if it was locked. And I need to do it on my mac.

Posted by: mlx52

I am running 10.4.6 with iSync 2.2 after updating to this version i could no longer sync my phone. Why trying to add the device in iSync I get the error saying "iSync Cannot Connect to this device." I was able to sync my contacts before the update using the metaclasses.plist fix posted on the first page of this board. What am i doing wrong? I have tried deleting iSync and reinstalling 2.2, but it still doesn't work.

I can successfully transfer pictures and ringtones to my Razr V3c, using bluetooth file exchange, but i receive the following error if I attempt to delete any of the files I transfer: 'The last operation failed: bad request.'

The only way for me to delete a file I transfer is to do a 'Master Clear.' Has anyone experienced this issues and if so found a fix?

Posted by: fincher

I sometimes get that error message. Simply try it again or delete it the regular way without using BT.

Posted by: jerry7171

I've been lurking around this thread and trolling the forum reading the hints and tips on working with my new Razr VC3 so I can use the BT to transfer ringtones and photos, and after some hesitation, I gamely plunged into flashing my phone so I could do as I wanted with it. Seven hours later (I'm really new to this you know) I succeeded! I just wanted to thank everyone that contributed to the topic. Now I don't have to pay to upload my own ringtones I created in iTunes or the wallpapers I want to use. Hooray! A word to the wise to others thinking about doing this: it's not easy if you are fairly new to some of this like me, but if you have some patience (or plain stubbornness) and are willing to trudge along through the flashing process you'll be rewarded with a phone that works much better than before.

I'm running 10.4.6 and iSync 2.2 as well. After having Verizon flash my phone from .02 to .04, I got the same message when trying to sync via BT.

For me the solution turned out pretty simple. By default, BT was turned off. After turning it on and making if findable, it still wouldn't sync. Rebooting the phone at that point was the final necessary step. Then my Mac found it again and synced with no further problems.

And I also removed and left out the Metaclass.plist edits before upgrading to iSync 2.2.

** Discovered the source of the error: I was trying to delete a picture set as my current wallpaper and I was trying to delete a ringtone set as my deafult ringtone. As soon as I changed the wallpaper and ringtone, I am able to successfully delete the files. This makes perfect sense since you can't delete a file that is in use. **

Well, I went to the Verizon store to have my phone upgraded from .02 to .04. Now, it is much faster surfing through all the menus and cancelling calls and such. It also now shuts off and turns on when I want it to. They said I would lose my pictures/ringtones with the upgrade, but everything stayed. Just minor changes were needed.

Now, the problem that I am having is with my Alarm Clock, since I use it to wake up in the mornings. In .02 the little icon on the bottom right of the screen would be there when the Alarm was activated. Now with .04, it disappears when active. The only way to get the icon to show up is to turn the phone off and then back on again. But you have to keep it flipped open or it won't work. Any ideas?

I synced my address book when I first got the phone and it screwed up my phone. Some were transferred, some weren't, some it set the email as default, etc. It also deleted and screwed up my address book on my computer, so I no longer sync. What gives there?

Overall, the phone has been worth the $99, but if you are one of those people that paid $425 for it... YOU GOT SCREWED!!!!

for $49, im happy!

Earlier in the thread, people were saying that going from .02 to .04 upgrade allowed them to keep OBEX. Also, the .04 upgrade is supposed to fix calendar syncing. Can anyone confirm these two things? Considering the upgrade, but don't want to if it hoses OBEX and/or doesn't fix the calendar.

Also, 3587, and anyone else -- I've had bad syncs too, but also good ones. Do these two things, or at least make sure you do the first one:

1. Back up your Mac address book and your iCal BEFORE you sync for the first time. In each app, there's a Backup command in the File menu. That way if things go horribly wrong, you can easily get your data back.

2. Also before you sync, try clearing out your phone. There's a command somewhere in the menus called, I think, Master Clear and/or Master Reset. Then, in iSync, choose the "erase contacts, then sync" option. You should be able to get a clean sync that way.

if you already have OBEX working then .04 will not hose it. However .04 will not add OBEX if you don't already have it.

As far as the calendar. It worked first thing when it wasn't working on .02 but a few weeks later it is having problems again. I haven't had a chance to really work on it though.

Posted by: neato_nj

Well guys, I've been following this thread for sometime, hoping against hope that I could achieve a flawless, stress free calendar sync (the reason I went with the V3c in the first place), but I have surrendered to the fact that it is not to be... at least for the time being.

I have spent so much time and been through FOUR Razr's, that I have given up trying to get this to work the way it should. Contact syncing always screwed up my phone numbers, so I am using Verizon's Backup Assistant which, for $1.99/mo. (hey, my time is worth something) keeps a flawless backup of all my phone numbers, in the fields they're supposted to be in. As far as calendar syncing, I only add one or two appointments a day, so I am manually entering them into both Entourage and my phone. Maybe one day Verizon, or Motorola, or whoever will get this calendar sync mess straightend out and I can use technology the way it's meant to be.

Posted by: fincher

For Contact syncing, the shareware program OnSync is far superior to iSync.

The problem that I was having is like most others... The sync works, it just doesn't work right. The fields are all screwed up, Apple Address doesn't allow you to set one as a default, email is top priority, I lose some of my addresses and other info, so to me, it just isn't worth it. I'll enter stuff on my own. Thanks.

If it isn't built by Apple, then it just wasn't built right!

I second this BIG TIME. iSync never worked right for me. It would always screw up my contacts either by duplicating all entries for no reason or replacing all spaces with _ among other things. It was so incredibly frustrating that I finally gave up messing with it. I tried out OnSync a couple weeks ago because I wanted a backup before I upgraded to .04 just in case something happened. It worked flawlessly. It's such a relief to have a reliable sync option that I don't have to screw with. Anyone who wants to easily and reliably backup their contacts should definitely give it a try.

From what I have read and understand: we Can use isync for contacts, but not for calendars. I hope I have this wrong because I really NEED a way to get my schedule onto my phone...

Also has any1 figured out a way to shut off the reminders for calendar events? I've kinda gotten used to not having them but if there is no way to turn them off..

But seriously, is there a way that i can connect my ibook (10.4.6 w/ bluetooth adaptor) to my razr V3c. I have verizon and just got the software updated, but i have no idea how to check what version i have.

Thanks for any help.

Since I can't get the Bluetooth transfers to work, I've been trying to get BitPim to work. Have any Mac users gotten BitPim to work with the Vc3? I have firmware .02 and want to transfer wallpapers/ringtones/etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Posted by: Dualyg4

BitPim 8.14 works perfectly with the v3c aside from not being able to add wallpapers/ringtones you can replace those already installed with your own. BUT has anyone noticed bitpim getting very VERY slow in recent verisons or is this a probelm i am just having any help would be appreciated.

Can someone please send me or upload the MetaClasses.plist for iSync 2.2? The one earlier in the thread is for 2.1.1 and isn't working. I really want to be able to sync my calendars on the V3c. Thanks!

I've gone in and changed calendarsync to true but it still does not work. I think iSync is adding my phone as a black RAZR V3 not a V3c. How do I fix this?

I have shot a picture with my Razr V3c at 1280x1024 resulting in a file size of 320kb. When I try to upload to PIX Place or email the photo, I get the message "Attachement too big." I've got (my 4th!) RAZR with .03 firmware and OBEX disabled, so I can't transfer the file via Bluetooth. Is there some way I can transfer it via USB cable? When I connect the phone via the cable the only place I see it show up is in Network Preferences as a port.

neato, i was having the same problem. you can either flash to .02, or crop the pic in the /view/editor menu. that will get it to a usable size. it's "supposed" to be under 300k to be sent. i was able to send two that were 312k, but the one that was 314k wouldn't go.

From what I've read, you can't flash on virtual pc, because something with the usb drivers. What I'm wondering is what is the easiest way to flash? I read that wiki and it seems so complicated. I'm pretty tech savvy, but that seemed pretty easy to mess up. Plus having to get two programs that you can't purchase. Is there an easier way? I have the flash file. I just to know the absolute easiest way to flash the phone. I have access to a pc.

I used this guide (http://whatsbruin.net/2006/03/25/software-downgrade/) to flash and it was really easy. I was hesitant to do it at first too but it was fine.

That happened to me right after the .04p upgrade (from .03, in my case). iSync said there was a connection error or something. I turned off the phone and turned it back on and it connected fine after that.

Anybody have a V3m working with iSync or BT file exchange

Posted by: mcyoda

Hi folks;

i was able to flash my v3c to the leaked 04 software and OBEX is now enabled.

The process was relatively easy, but I did have to use the PC. I used Motorola Software Update (it installed the drivers on the PC), a USB cable, RSD Lite and the leaked flash file.

OBEX seems to be working fine, except I have noticed a bit of cantankerous behavoir with bluetooth. Sometimes, the connection drops and I have to go add the device again to reconnnect it. I can browse directories, retrieve pictures and put ringtones on the phone. I've been able to use OnSync to manage the address book just fine. iSync seems to be working, too,
One other fun program is BluePhone Elite. It hooks into a bluetooth phone and allows for SMS, dialing, caller i.d. on the Mac.

However, I am struglling with Bitpim 0.9.02. The software will recognize the phone, but not download anything when I use the bluetooth port. I get an error message "The phone is no responding while transitioning mode from phonebook to brew" when I try to pull stuff from the phone.

When I attempt to use the USB cable, I get a general "Bluetooth serial failure has occured, Failed to open an RFCOMM serial channel. Check if authentication needs to be enabled in your device." After I click through that, BitPim does detect my phone via USB. But I get "The phone is not responding while transitioning from none to phonebook" when I attempt data retrieval.

I'm using TiBook running 10.4.6. Charging with the USB cable seems to work great.

I've not tried configuring DUN yet, but it would be nice, although I live in in a 1X market.

Any thoughts?

I prolly need to finish configuring DUN, network ports and making sure I have the right modem script installed.

Thanks in advance for thoughts...

Posted by: mcyoda

UPDATE: I was able to get DUN bluetooth working by following the steps described earlier in this thread. I also had to compile the applescript to get it to work.

Since I don't live in a EVDO market, I guess I don't need to take my phone off EVDO. It only shows the 1X icon.

Here are my speeds using bluetooth to connect to the phone:

From speakeasy.net in chicago:

According to AppleInsider and corroborated by a MacRumors source, Apple's upcoming 10.4.7 update to its Mac OS will include, among other things, an updated iSync utility.

According to AppleInsider and our source, Build 8J2126 for Intel Macs includes iSync 2.3 (current is 2.2) and includes support for "many additional phones" including Motorola's RAZR v3x.

There are some indications that AppleInsider's source and MacRumors' source are one-and-the-same, but that in of itself does not rule out the legitimacy of the rumor.

So, I'm late to this forum because I just got my Alltel V3c. I'm trying to sync with iSync 2.2. I follow all the instructions in the first post of this thread. The bluetooth assistant successfully pairs (I can actually "browse" the phone and all). It then opens iSync and puts my device there as unknown. When I try to sync, I get a "No device activated" message. Please help! I'm STUCK!

When is someone going to create a web site that you can go to that tells you all the things you can do with your phone following certain links? That way, people don't have to go through all 50 pages trying to find out what their phone can do. Just an idea.

FYI...I just updated to 10.4.7 today. If you want Calendar sync to work again, you will need to edit the metaclasses.plist again as done with 10.4.6.

I can't get iSync 2.3 to work let alone do the edit. It starts up, finds my phone and then freaks out and I have to force quit it. The program locks up at the "double click to add device" window.

Posted by: fincher

The edit to the plist is very easy. But since you have a VZW V3c, I cannot test on my end.

I deleted my pairing, edited the plist and re-paired but I have a USCC V3c with full BT.

Posted by: moxy

can someone post the plist edit again for everyone who will have to do it again because of the update?

thanks

Posted by: fincher

1. Control-click on the iSync application.

2. Select "Show Package Contents"

3. Navigate to here:
Contents>Plugins>ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice>Contents>Plugins>PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin>Contents>Resources>MetaClasses.plist

4. Be sure to backup the original plist for save keeping and in the event you screw up.

5. Open in a text editor such as BBEdit.

6. Do a search for 'Verizon' and you will see this string:

7. You need to change 'false' to 'true'

A hearty thank you again to Brian Toth who previously posted this for earlier versions of iSync.

ok, got that out of the way, Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I have a Razr v3c from Verizon. I recently got my old one replaced and my S/W version is GATW_0.1.15.04

I also have an intel Imac, which has bluetooth capabilities.

I followed some online tutorials, i setup my device, all went well, launched isync, all sunc (is that the past participle of sync?) my contacts, all went well. Here's where i hit my first glitch..the sync calendar was disabled. I searched online, they said to change

<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<false/>

to

<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<true/>

that worked perfectly, and i'm extremely happy.

Now i want to put some mp3s on my razr and set one of them as my ringtone, i also want to take pictures off my razr and put some on my razr.

This is where the problem is. According to every onlnie tutorial, you click on Browse Device, Select the phone, and click Browse

It starts validating, then tells me :
Device does not have the necessary services

Also, according to every online tutorial, this problem is due to pre .04 firmware, which i don't have..i have .04

If i can get this done, i will be forever in debt, well until i try to edit the seem to get my razr to vibrate THEN ring

did you downlod the .02 first, and then use the .04?
