Has anyone used this particular SD card with their Treo to good results?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)

that's huge! what would you use that big of a card for. if I remember correctly weren't people having problems with a 2 gig card.

From what I understand, the PalmOS in the Treo can only recognize up to 2Gb, so I don't believe the 4Gb will work natively. There may be some hacks out there to allow this 4gb card to work however.

Just confirmed with a fellow editor that palm os only supports fat16. Even the lifedrive do that for sd cards, but Palm had a work around for the hard drive. I've not gone to shadowmite's website to see if there's a work around. Let me know if u guys know something that I don't. Thanks!

You have to know how to rip, edit, and then replace the ROM on your phone.

If you know how to do this then getting a 4GB card to work is a piece of cake.

Here are the ROM instructions:

http://shadowmite.com/wiki/index.ph...And_Rom_Hacking

Here is the FAT32.prc file that you will have to put on your rom:
http://discussion.treocentral.com/a...achmentid=10797

At the bottom of this page is where you will find a more appropriate
RomTool (this one is better than the one on shadows page imho,
no offense shadow, I love you!)

http://www.grack.com/romtool

Because these instructions have been posted a 1000 times in a 1000 difference places I will do a Short Version for those that have a bit of
a clue on this stuff:

1> Download RomTool (you need the .NET framework to run this, its free)

2> Unpack romtool and the treo 650 driver.

3> plug in your hotsync cable, do a soft reset on your phone,
AS SOON AS IT SHUTS OFF, hold down the HOTSYNC button
untill the bootloader (rainbow) screen comes up.

4> at this point it will prolly want to install the USB driver for the
treo (comes with romtool)

5> run romtool, itll do its thing.

6> download the current ROM from your phone (using directory mode)

7> replace the FATFS.prc file with the FAT32.prc file in the rom-dir
you made.

8> tell RomTool to upload the rom back to your phone

9> restart

10> you now have 4GB support, fat32, blah, blah..

Disclaimer: be F***ing careful

A-Data 150x 4G sd card has working fine for me for the last week or two. Several reports in the treocentral.com "fat32.prc" thread say the Transcend is working fine, too...

Can I just load the FAT32.prc or do I need to HACK MY ROM to get the Fat 32 support for 4 GIG SD CARDS?

The FAT32.PRC goes ON TO the ROM, its not a program you install.

I have the AData 4GB card now.. works great!
I have:

o ALL the eps of SouthPark
o ROMS for NES, SNES, ATARI, GENESIS
o a few 60 minute v.trance mixes
o a handful of programs,

and I still have 600+MB free.. FANTASTIC!!!

On my Custom ROM I have:

o removed all languages (cept english)
o removed Real Player, Tutorial Features
o Added the following programs: vsfmark, radio control,
buttonfix, cleanup, filez, uninstall manager, always on,
freedom, rbackup, power up, countdown, mvoice,
pocket tunes, soft reset, seawar, pocket solitaire, nesem

So I have all that functionally without using a single byte
of my RAM and I still have 500+K space left on the ROM
(which is more than I had with the original!)

Double FANTASTIC!

*cheers*

It's already been mentioned in this thread, and spoken of on treocentral.com. Fat32.prc must be in the ROM, so you'll have to load a custom ROM to use it.

My A-Data 150x 4Gig card has been working great for a week now. It is after custom ROM with fat32.
