AT&T Phone on Cingular Network

I have a question about using an ATT phone on the Cingular network. I have an ATT Audiovox 5600 purchased when I upgraded my contract. I purchased a refurbished 5600 from Cingular (see thread).

I am on my second one and it also has ATT ROM. I successfully unlocked the first one I received, although it works on the network I was wondering if I am giving up RF or features since it is not a Cingular ROM. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

The features are available unless you cannot change some of the settings to access them. If you configure the network settings, you should be able to access the internet using your Cingular or AT&T Wireless SIM in it as long as you have a data plan.

In terms of RF, no you are not giving anything up as your Cingular or AT&T Wireless SIM should be accessing the same Cingular/AT&T networks regardless of the device it is in.

I put my AT&T Wireless SIM in my Cingular branded phones and it works the same as if it was in my AT&T Wireless phones. I don't have an mMode plan on it so I don't have to change or add the mMode/MMS settings at all, but if I wanted to I could.

I've done the same thing with my Cingular SIM by being able to put it in my AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile phones (which I had unlocked). I have put in the settings for Cingular's WAP/MMS and they do work. MEdia Net is jacked right now on them as something is up with Cingular's new MEdia Net homepage. Previously it did work just fine though.
