Would someone help me out with a few Kyocera questions

I've used the search and still am confused.
Here is my story, I've used Kyoceras with great happiness for almost 9 years no since they had the little wheel on their sides which was the only thing to ever break on the phone.
But as technology changed this Nokia 6255i was calling my name. Well, it's okay but I'm not all that impressed and kinda miss my Kyocera.
Then I see there are a few softwares out there but I have no idea in application how they really are.
This forum is really my last hope. I'm very frustrated and just want a decent phone with a few simple features: connects easily to my pc, camera (albeit not that great) & calendar with sync's with my Outlook at work.
Would any of you kind folks help me out here?
What does KWPST do?
What is this SE47 thing?
Does the Mobile Phone Tools USB Kit work as good as it looks?
Thanks alot, gang.

I have a Kyocera KX2 with Verizon. I really like the form factor of this phone, although many people do not, since the swivel is a big change from a flip phone. It looks and feels different, which is what I wanted.
I find the reception is good (no dropped calls yet in 3 months), call clarity is decent (but not crystal clear like Motorola), and the UI is really great and easy to navigate.
The camera is ok, but grainy. See my thread with some unprocessed picts:

The photos look pretty good after you process them with software to clean up the noise, especially when printing them on 4x6 paper.
Using Kyocera Phone Desktop (KPD) you can synch ringtones, wallpaper, and photos using a usb cable (there is a 500kb limit on sounds and videos). You can also drag and drop contacts from Outlook. You can't however, sync Outlook's calendar with KPD. It's very easy to use.
Using QPST (search forums) you can also transfer larger movies and sounds to your phone. Bear in mind the KX2 only has 16MB of memory, with no expansion slots. I have about 6-7 movie trailers stored on there for quick entertainment on the road.
KWPST is similar to QPST, but made specifically for Kyocera phones. You can tinker with different settings on the phone. The only thing I did with KWPST was enable the two games that Verizon disabled. The rest I don't really understand. There are threads here that go into some features more specifically.
I ordered Kyocera's Mobile PhoneTools, and am expecting it soon. Supposedly this will sync calendar items too.
One opinion on one Kyocera phone for you...

Much thanks! It seems like they are alot more versatile than thy used to be.
Please let me know how the MPT works for you since I still have 3 weeks to return.
I appreciate your response!

Strumminsix,
depending on your region I would personally recommend the KX5 if you are looking at returning to a Kyocera Product.
Roughtly the same form-factor as the SE44/47 but it incorporates a bunch of new features including a 1.3 Megapixel digital camera. Along with the newest version of MPT it will give you a pretty easy method of syncing up your calendar, contacts, and a much better interface than previous Kyocera offerings.
Or if you feel like waiting with baited breath and you are more a fan of the pay-as-you-go scenario you may want to wait for the KX18 to be released by amp'd mobile (It's another Kyocera Phone).

Thanks so much for your response!!! USCC doesn't offer those you recommend. They only offer the cheaper ones.
It's very frustrating since I consider Kyocera superior phones for simplicity and durability.
Here are my choices:

So, with the 4 choices, it looks like the Candid is my best.
Any thoughts?

Hold off until Monday when I get back into the office, I'll hook the Candid up and see if it works with MPT (I believe it does). If it does it will give you a solid solution that's decent but not quite a sexy as the kx5 imho.

Ok, I got Kyocera's Mobile Phone Tools. I haven't had much time to play around with it, but tried synching the calendar with my KX2, and ran into some problems. The software is very basic, and seems to be missing some key features. It could also be the result of the KX2 not supporting features as well, so KMPT might work better with newer or different models.
Problems:
1. Does not synch recurring appointments with OUTLOOK. It only synchs the first instance of the appointment. I contacted tech support, and they confirmed this with me. Big bummer. I'm experimenting with a workaround for this.
2. The "copy to phone" function produces double entries on the phone. I MUST use the synch button to get the data onto the phone without errors.
So, for me, the software is not as robust as I had wished (but what do you expect for $9.99?)

Thanks everyone.
Lester that is the same issue with my Nokia. It screws up re-occuring meetings which is, of course, usually the most important ones at my job and the ones that most often change. The Nokia never updates but it will load all the dates - but I think it just stores the first one and the frequency...

I started another thread in hopes of accumulating some tips on using KMPT. I came up with a long-winded "solution" for synching recurring items:

Not great if the appointments change a lot.
Are you going for the Candid?

Thanks bro, that's way too much work and I don't take chances with the work pc since our support guys turn into huge jack@sses if you do anything outside the norm.
I think I'll try a Moto and see how that goes. But ya just never know, I do love my Kyo's!
