question about razr and v3I

Hello,

I noticed that the razr phone I have doesn't have video. I've alaso looked at cingular's website and there a new razr phone available that has video. I've had my Razr phone for approx. 3 months. Firstly, is the official name of my phone simply Razr and the new phone that's just been released is the V3I? The V3I is the latest of the Razr phones, right? Anyways, I got a 2-year plan with Cingular and I'm trying to see if there's anyway I can get the newer model instead. I have insurance on this phone. Is there anyway that I could switch the two phones?

The new Razr with video is the exact same Razr you have but with video recording enabled. You can enable your Razr to record video by doing a few seem edits or flashing a Monsterpack that includes video recording. Search MotoModders or HowardForums' Motorola Modding Section for more information.

As for trading your Razr in for a V3i...don't expect it to happen. Cingular won't give you a 500 dollar phone for free.

I think that alot of people are going to be disappointed with the V3I after they've plunked down God only knows how much money just to find out that the phone isnt much better than their current Razr, but with a slightly better digital camera rating and iTunes.

unfortunately, the phone will still probably have the old, slow and very crusty UI that we've all gotten use to with all Motorolas.

guess only time will tell.

I would buy it but i think the itunes ruins it. I cant stand it. I hate physical branding more than software branding. Like to me, i would rather have a cingular branded phone (software) then the retarded medianet buttons in the middle of samsung phones. It is a waste of a perfectly good ok button lol.

It won't say iTunes on the phone. Just have the software which you can easily get rid of. I plan on removing iTunes and just using Motorola's Digital Audio player.

Lol i never said it would say itunes. I was just pointing out my hatred for branding like that. How do you know you can easily remove it?

Um, because if it's Java based you just DELETE it. But I'm assuming here as I don't own a Rokr/e398 the only phone with iTunes at the moment but ask one of those guys they could explain whether it's possible or not.

Either way, there is still a dedicated itunes button isnt there? I know there is on the rokr

The V3i DOESN'T have a dedicated iTunes button since not every market with the 3i will get iTunes. It would make no sense to have said button and launch it in a market with no iTunes. The ROKR has iTunes in every market it launched in. That's it's selling point. The V3i isn't using iTunes as it's selling point; it's just a service option.

actually, according to motorola, it will:
motorola v3i

bottom of the page it says "***If the phone has iTunes software, the messaging key will be replaced with a dedicated iTunes key."

stinks if you as k me, the messaging key is probably one of the most used keys.....

Yeah but the key doesn't actually say "iTunes" on it. It's just a key with a couple of 8th notes on it (for the music savvy folks here) Seems to me that with some flasing/flexing the itunes software can be removed and the standard moto music player can be put on there, the "music key" would default to that application.

just set one of your Home Keys (the up, down, left, right) to Messaging.

i dont have a dedicated messaging key on m v600 and i can get to messaging in one press by pressing up.

Once again... my point was proven though... it is definitely a turn off

sure...but i guess my point was on a phone, the messaging key is is a "major" key, where as a music button isn't. if anything, i would think that cingular would rather them have the massaging key remain, since that is something they charge us for using...

if you're going ot replace somehting, replace the web key...my current phone i've had for two years now. i think i've pressed the web key 4 times -- twice by accident...

Posted by: celltechy

I agree... that was my main point... Like on samsungs, I HATE forced buttons

only reason considering v3i is because the external screen is enlarged and it is 65k. You can get video on your razr by a unlock code, which also enables 7 mb of memory, louder speaker, longer battery, and rythem lights. (may be different codes but can be done, I know )
