Okay guys I'm totally dissatisfied with my mm-8300 I am concidering the following:
Swaping out for a 5500, or paying a little extra and getting an a880. About the 5500 is the speakerphone mono or stereo? Same with the 8300, i'm under the impression that our speakerphone is stereo on the 83... Also would there be any otherphones in the same price range you would recomend?
Thanks,
Jason

Are you refferring to the SANYO SCP-5500 (VM4500)? I used the 5500 for about a year, had no complaints. I just depends on what features are important to you for the phone. the 8300 has everything the 5500 does, but the 5500 does not do sprint tv. The a880 is a nice phone, ( i personally havent used it ), but it does have a 1.3 meg. pix camera (which the 8300 and 5500 is only a .3 meg ) I'm not too happy about the internal antenna though. If I were you, I'd take a look at the SANYO MM-5600, it has everything or the mm-9000. Both of these phones rank about the same. But they do cost more.

i'd love to get my paws on the 5600 however i've yet to track one down. Keep in mind I just purchased this from the sprint store, so they will be putting my original purchase price towards my next phone, i may just penny up the extra 100 bucks and pick up the 9000 though...

all i can say is..... damn, the 9000 is awesome. it does everything.

yeah, well i woulda actually threw the extra money down, but sprints award winning CS is totally ****ing me. so It looks like i'm stuck with the 8300... for all i care i'll snap one in half every week and take it in there for a replacement lol...

Why the hell would you rathner have a SCP-5500 AKA VM-4500 than its upgrade (the MM-8300)?!?!?!
The 8300 is a faster, sleeker, and prettier upgrade to the 5500, if you arent satisfied with the 8300, you definitely wont like the 5500. I had the 5500 with CONSTANT signal issues and dropped calls, not to mention it was slow, so I complained to Sprint and they gave me the 8300 which im very satisfied with. What dont you like about the 8300?

I would have to agree with Label2021 on this, the 8300 is a better phone than the vm-4500, but the mm-5600 or mm-9000 kills the living sh** out of both of them. Look, I've worked in customer service as a sales rep for a major telecommunications company for over 2 and a half years. Here's how I got the deal on MY new phone. I had the vm -4500, I was outside of my contract with sprint, the first CS rep I talked to from sprint, I ask them if I agree to a new 2 year term for service that I want the new customer discount on the mm-9000 or mm-5600 NO REBATE crap, only instant credits. 1st CS rep told me I could get a 75.00 rebate towards the new phone. I hung up on them. Then some one told me to speak with the accessories dept for sprint CS. So I did, told them I'll renew for 2 years if I can get the instant new cust. discount on the phone. She gave it to me! I ordered the phone Thursday morning with the new plan, got the phone with the new customer discount, free shipping, no acitv. I got the phone the NEXT DAY. Activated it. Done.

to make a long story short, keep calling back to the accessories dept. untill you get the answer you want to hear. it's the name of the game.
