Oh Yeah! My 8310 is on the way.

Ordered an I-mate SP5 from Expansys US back in September. Of course, many of you know they've delayed or only had partial shipment about a hundred times. They just received a batch of Qtek 8310's so I had them switch my order, and after another couple of days of delays it shows to have shipped today for overnight delivery. I would have prefered the Imate because of the support, but with all the delays, I'll take what I can get. Was looking at the 2125 but it has no WiFi as far as I can tell and still isn't available, and I prefer the Tornado Noble design anyhow. I'll cross my fingers and hope UPS doesn't jack up my delivery and deliver it to the wrong house, as they did the last time I ordered something that shipped via them. Hopefully will be posting additonal info and pics tomorrow, although I think most has already been covered by those who received SP5's early on.

Got it today. Charging now. Hands down my favorite smartphone design thus far. Here is a pic. Can't do much more. Forgot about the attachment limitation.

Nice looking phone. Post some impressions after you get a chance to play around with it.

Haven't had time to play much yet, but I did turn it on. Incredible screen. Crisp, with great color. Has a nice feel to it. I read complaints elsewhere about the buttons being too cramped, etc. Having drawn a conclusion yet, but my initial impression is that they are fine. Definitely have a better feel to them than my 5600. Will post more later.

Been playing with it for a while. Tested video with TCPMP. Just incredible! Super crisp images and smooth playback. Music is fine (but I'm no audiophile). Agile Messenger works sort of, but only displays on part of the screen. Profimail wouldn't load. Splashphoto wouldn't load. Opera loaded and appeared to work, but I didn't test it for long. Web browsing speed is noticeably quicker compare to my 5600 (EDGE, of course). Keys seem fine to me. Joystick takes some getting used to, but I'm speeding by with it now. Call volume and quality seems fine. Signal strength has been good so far. Speakerphone is OK with calls, but I did notice that when playing video with TCPMP and without headphones, the volume was not as loud a with the 5600. Images look excellent with the increased resolution. Only tried the camera a little, but the pictures I took are acceptable for me. Haven't tried video recording, and haven't tried WiFi. My only real disappointment thus far is that I can't use ClearVue Suite, which I use quite a bit for work. Hopefully they'll be an update or maybe MS Office Mobile will become available for download. My initial impression is that this is a keeper. Of course, when the 2125 is released I'll check it out as well. Winner I keep, loser goes to the wife :-).

I have had my SP5m for about a month now and I agree with everything you say. In particular I find the phone / signal strenght to be much better than my old SMT5600.

You comment about ClearVue caught me a bit by surprise. For what ever reason, I thought MS viewers were built into WM5 but never tested it. You are correct: They are not and we will need either ClearVue or something new from MS.

This will be my first and only grip about the phone.

Don't use Avantgo so can't say, but I do use Audible. I haven't loaded it yet, but I'll try to later today and see if it works.

I just read on another forum that ClearVue is included on a CD that comes with the 8310 and that it works (whatever version is on the CD) with WM 5.0. I had already tried loading the copy that I had been using and it didn't work, so maybe there is another version on the CD. I'll have to check that out later today.

I can now confirm that ClearVue Suite comes on a second CD that comes with the 8310 and it works. You have to install it on the actual phone instead of the miniSD card apparently. It gave the option of installing on the miniSD but then the icon did not show. Reinstalled to the phone and it works perfectly. Will test Audible later.

Audible works, but the skin only covers a portion of the screen. I'm sure an update will come but at least you can still isten to Audible audiobooks. Tried out WiFi. Now that is fast web browsing. Picked up a connection at a restaurant/resort earlier tonight, and tested again at the house. All worked well. The Connection Manager application is great, with its own dedicated side button. Very pleased with the phone. As close to my ideal device as I've had in my hands.

Im glad to hear you are happy with it

If you have version 2.41 which is the latest will not work with MS5.0. I have sent ClearVue an email and waiting for a response.

The version of ClearVue bundled with the 8310 works fine, though. It's version 2.41xxxx (can remember the exact numbers).

Too lazy for that, but if you want to PM with your email I'll send some over.

Can confirm that Mobipocket ebook reader works as well as Google Local and Virtual Earth.
