And here's the new SH902i to be released tomorrow, was looking at the mocks trying to figure out which color I want to get.

Posted by: Blt4424

What is macro-focus used for? I just leave my phone on auto-focus for pictures. Is there an advantage of using macro over auto?

Here's a picture I took out in Las Vegas. This was at a golf course outside of the city and in the distance you can see the whole city. It was amazing. This is as the sun was setting.

And at night.

I wish it took a little better pictures at night, these pictures don't do it justice as how cool it looked.

Posted by: echau

macro mode is for close up shots

Posted by: raine2x

nice pix guys, i think the 903s take better pix in the day than night/extremely low light, when i went to this restaurant, and tried to take pictures, the pictures were not vivid, they look somewhat monochromatic, dull =( *too bad the 903 doesn't have a flash* anyways, just wondering, does the SIZE of the pictures affect pic quality? like when you're printing it and stuff... i usually put it on 1024x768, is that good enough for printing 5x7s??

Posted by: volcompunk

It does have a flash...? when you put the settings on low light it seems to make indoor pictures better too

Apple Computer Campus?

Posted by: kinmod

I didn't think the quality was going to come out this great. My previous 902SH is nothing compared to this V903 that I just got - I can only say that its perfect. Pictures taken in good light condition is just about as great as my Canon or Fuji digital camera!!! Unbelievable!!! Here are some random shots I took on my HK trip
At restaurant

At Star Pier

At Tsim Tsa Tsui

Posted by: Blt4424

It's kind of scary how good the camera is in the daylight and under bright white indoor lighting.

Posted by: jack_d12

yeah but it totally sucks during the nite without enough light. and the flash it comes w/ is yellowish even when set to white. the k750i is way superior to the v903 at nite.

Posted by: Blt4424

It's not way superior, only a little better. The k750i at night isn't anything special either.

Posted by: jack_d12

well at least the flash and nite mode is better. the k750i flash is very very bright compared to the v903 flash ...

Posted by: olivrr

Night pic, resized to 800x600. No flash, custom settings.

I have my settings on high quality and max picture size. Then I set the exposure to -2, and then switch it to night mode. I also press focus before taking the shot. I read that the Japan firmware takes better night pictures than any other fw, but im not 100% on that. Goodluck!

Posted by: olivrr

Quote:

Correct!

Posted by: echau

olivrr: nice pic.

you have to play with the settings if you want a good picture...auto is not always the best option

Posted by: jack_d12

here's my nite pics it's hybrid firmware v903

this one is set w/ exposure +2 and the scene setting set to text(i tried it because the picture comes brightest on this setting)

this one exposure +2 nite mode

this one also exposure +2 nite mode

i know you might say i say i have some hand shake and noise but as you can see the color in my photos and the bellagio are totally different like two different cameras took those photos ...

Posted by: olivrr

I shot the bellagio with -2 exposure and night mode. Try -2 next time and post the result, it should be better. If not then i guess the jp fw is indeed superior.

Posted by: jack_d12

ok i'll try -2 next time but i thought the brighter the picture that comes on the screen the better ?!?!?! when i switch to nite mode on my v903 the screen doesn't seem to change ... but on my k750 when i switch to nite mode you can obviously see the screen change in color and brightness .... i'm not an expert .. i just believe in what i see ....

Posted by: Patster

wow, that bellagio shot's from a 903sh? very impressive...

Posted by: olivrr

More low light/night shots with -2 exposure. I usually use -2 but sometimes I use -1 if its not too dark. Dont forget to switch to the appropriate scene setting. Also I didnt use flash as usual. Goodluck!

These are resized to 1024x768, the original size 3.2mp and the quality is High quality.

Posted by: jack_d12

wow .. those are amazing ... i'm pretty sure it's the firmware ...

here's the first pic i posted above but -2 exposure and nite mode

a little better but still nothing close to urs .. i guess it's a little too dark also ... i'll try take some w/ a little better lite ...

Posted by: Blt4424

Try to remember, he's in Vegas where it's very bright even if it is dark outside. He has all those lights helping his pictures.

Posted by: volcompunk

I find it really hard to believe those are from a 903.. My 903 doesnt get that great of night shots.. those are comparable to my dad's DSLR.

Posted by: olivrr

lol dont hate just because you dont know how to take a picture that well. With the right setting you will be able to achieve those results. Its possible my jp fw has something to do with it also. Cheer up.

Im actually pretty suprised myself when I first saw those 903sh night shots, even my sony cybershot 5.1mp digicam will have a hard time getting that kind of night pics results without using a tripod.

Posted by: olivrr

Picasa properties info. Its the only way I know to prove that its taken by my 903SH. Believe it or not I could careless, enjoy!

Posted by: jack_d12

nah i've seen that kind of nite pics on other boards from a v903/sx833 before so i'm not suspecting you. just i think the firmware has alot to do with it other than having a nonshaking hand .... and i'd like to prove it ... just that in hawaii there aren't that many beautiful nite scenes ... just street lights ...

Posted by: volcompunk

Hey man I wasn't hating I was just saying it was hard to believe as in I was really suprised at how well those shots came out.. I just can't get those shots with my 903.

Posted by: jack_d12

i think i'm getting close .. i'll post some pics when i get it right heheheheh

Inner camera CIF setting (352x288) Not the best but maybe I'll try again tomorrow outside, I've taken better.

Again, with the outer camera, 2 megapixel mode.

[img]http://www.url.com/smallpic.jpg[//img]
but get rid of the extra "/" from the [//img] at the end

Posted by: jack_d12

no what i mean is that when you use html it doesn't matter what size your original image is you can add width="xxx" height="xxx" to the end of the html tag

example
<img src="http://www.image.com/image.jpg" width="640" height="480" />

so it doesn't matter if the original image uploaded is full 3.2mp size by adding the width and height at the end it will only show up as 640x480

i'm just wondering how you would do it with the forum coding because i tried

[img]http://www.image.com/image.jpg width="640" height="480"[//img]
(without the extra /)

and it doesn't work...

Posted by: MasterTaco

Well, I was hoping that I would be the first to post the Tokyo snow today, but I've already been beaten.
i'll just post it like this since nobody has told me how to resize the picture through tags yet ...

you don't need to put in 640x840

Posted by: jack_d12

haha if you don't put it it'd be original size ... like those up there

nice diggi. hey bud. msg me tonite. i got some big news

Posted by: raine2x

here's my share of pix guys, resized from original: 1536x2048, -2 exposure, night mode, super fine quality. Taken @ a restaurant in Toronto:

BUT when i did the same settings in a low light/artificial light condition in the restaurant, the pictures would always come out, dull & purply =(

the pic would probably have come out better if i put on the 'mobile light' but i would have to take a closeup to get clearer pix and not too grainy.. and that's not even THAT bad... i've had worse where it's just mostly black or pinky duotone colored low light pix =(

Posted by: Papagorgio

The last one was blurry cuz I was really hungry and I didn't want to play with the settings :P

They don't sell them anymore but they came out a few years ago as a Gran Turismo pack thing in Japan. You can find them used sometimes though if you look around.

Thought I'd try the kodawari mode, which is a preset on the SH902i. It takes in 3M with normal settings.

Shibuya in the day, lost in translation anyone?

Shibuya at night, from the 8th floor through a dirty window.

Sweet! It's whats-their-names from Gokusen! Good lord what a good show, I'd give my left nut to get the box set! So.. how close are you to HMV in Shibuya?

Posted by: totaltoanage

903 has better results.

Posted by: totaltoanage

Posted by: Cloud V

I have noticed a slight difference in quality, but then again, I don't really go so far to mess with the settings. I'm also not resizing, so that kind of is a factor.

As for the SH901iS/902i and the SH903 they both use different cameras, if I am correct. They both have 3.2 megapixel CCD camera's, but where voda's sh903 has a 2x optical, docomo's 902i doesn't, but has spot focusing, and anti-shake and what not.

I guess it kind of comes down to the fact that they can't release the exact same phone here for each carrier.

Then again, for people outside of japan, you really don't have the same choice of phones here I guess, it's pretty much nailed to the SH's made for vodafone 3g. Again, because they release those models abroad.

Oh well, I'll keep upping interesting photo's though if I can.

How come some people's pictures come out a little grainy during the day even with the highest settings? I have the same problem too with my 903.

Some users are posting other phone brand, not from the 903SH. Like Cloud V.

Posted by: Cloud V

It's the same brand, just different model.
And the SH902i is Docomo's equivalent of the 903SH, if not newer.

But I notice that still there is a high amount of noise (graininess) in pictures. It probably wouldn't be noticable if i resized the picture

for example, my original post at 3m resized to 1024x768, half the size of the original which was 2048x1536.

looks a lot better doesn't it?

Well, to get this post alive again I have decided to share a few (actually a lot) of pictures that I took with my UK Sharp 902 over the past few months.

Sunny South Florida

View from my cousins place

View of the Atlantic Ocean

View of Downtown

Took this picture while driving home. Beautiful.

I must say, it was pretty difficult driving a manual while fumbling around with my cellphone; but I think the pictures were well worth it.

Just when you think everything is great down here.
We get some nasty weather sometimes.
Tum tum tum!

Some hurricane action

View from upstairs window during hurricane

My street flooded right after the hurricane

Neighbors tree fell down

But there are also a few pluses, like living close to Disney World

My recent trip to Disney World

Our hotel from outside

The room, great, now where's the beer?

Great view from the hotel room, but still no sign of beer!

Outside of Epcot

The Hulk rollercoaster

Waiting to see the Lights Motor Action show

The tree of life

Expedition Everest (This thing was HUGE, even bigger than the Epcot ball!)

The castle at night

The castle again

Crazy life sized gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian Hotel lobby

Went clubbing later than night. A view from the vip

View from the vip

There are also a lot of cool cars down here

Random shot of a nice 300m at a local car meet spot

Hot Import Nights car show

MMMMMMM BMW, I would trade my Subaru anyday for an M3

Nice color

And what would a carshow be without models?

Schwiing!

I would give up my Subaru any day for that peice of a......... oh im sorry my mind went wondering off again.

And thats it. Thats all the pics I have to share for now.
Sorry if I bored you guys to death, and sorry if you have 56k; wait a second, why do you still have 56k anyway? shame on you!

the canon powershot seems a bit fuzzy comparing those 2 last pix!

Posted by: longcu817

I think it's because of the angle I took the picture from, I tried to keep it at the same angle as the 903 but I guess I was a little off and as you can see in the 903 picture there was alittle more light in the background than in the canon. Even so, I thought the quality was very close to that of my canon. This was one of first pictures I took with the Sharp right when I got it, and decided to do a comparison against my digital camera, and I was quite satisified by the outcome.

Posted by: longcu817

I didn't realize this at the time, but the first picture of the tiger was probably shot in 2x optical zoom.

Hi, they are all very nice resolution pics, but can u tell me how fast it used up the battery to take these photos? Just wondering if I buy this phone, take it for vacation to take photos instead of regular camera, don't want to keep charging battery after every few photos taken. thanks.

Posted by: elpabar

I put the flight mode. And I took on average 100 photographs per day with a load of battery. Precision: in 2Mp, because in 3.2Mp that requires more energy

Famous Galerie of the Ices (in allowance, therefore visible that with half)

International AutoShow in Toronto that i haven't finish posting up yet! :-)

Posted by: yis903unposubl

perhaps this isn't possible with the 903, and it is a bit off topic;

does anyone know how to take a picture of a car, so that the car is in motion and comes out clear, and the background is blurred to make the effect that the car is moving really fast? flip through a couple of car mags and i'm sure you'll find a good example.
