lol! Peashooters! i didnt mean that!

anyway my contribution by 904sh. it aint that bad! no editing, only resizing by photobucket

Posted by: jpmontalbo

Which one should I buy?

Posted by: slardar

i prefer the simple analog clock. lol..

Posted by: takumi906

so me and a friend decided to hit the road to our local japanese arcade for some fun. decided to leave the SH905i at home and take my 904sh instead.

the arcade at night

when we got there we saw a newly opened japanese dessert place that sells crepes, takoyaki and other things. the crepes smelled really good so we got one and a calpico to wash it down. were gonna try the takoyaki next week lol.

my favorite game hands down: beatmaniaIIDX

Posted by: KBoardBox

Takoyaki FTW! Damn, I'm going to get some now. hahah

Posted by: KBoardBox

Peashooter!

Pics taken with my P905i. No editing, no retouching, just resizing.

Heading out from church.

#@)($*& Burrard Timmy's ran out of Roll-Up-the-Rims for large cups. I think it's all over now too?

Crazy day. Huge black clouds just east of my house, and on the other side, brilliant sunshine. The division was right above me!

I lol'd...this is on the N905i.

Crossing the Lions Gate.

Downtown! Taken while I was plastered to the windshield of a bus, as it was really, really full.

Upgrading my buddy's iPhone from 1.0 to 1.1.4 lol

Posted by: crg_zinger1

i really am not that impressed.
1) quality - very similar to 903SH except it has a tad bit benefits in color reproduction.
2) Sunlight in 903SH make images goregeous.. even on cloudy days... but the P905i doesnt seem to do that well under clouds.
3) the images are blurry in detail (tree branches) when held outdoors

the coffee image was the best imho.

I never had 903SH to compare with. I came from SE W810i and I think these photos are stunning. Maybe it's cause I'm new to Japanese phones, but I think panasonic did a pretty good job overall on this phone.

Posted by: KBoardBox

lol it's fantastic for a dinky little sensor! The 903SH was one of a kind; it's full camera lens and good software compression still pwns much of the market, and IMHO is only now being surpassed by other phones.

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

>_> Dinky little sensor? XD
but honeslty the P905i's flashing light is quite annoying I time my pictures so that I take them when its not flashing....of course it probably turns off automatically once I push the button but I'm being paranoid as always.

Nice macro shot!

Posted by: slardar

thanks.. all these pics that i posted were enhanced in photoshop. because the colors on 904sh's photos are too flat and with low contrast/saturation

im getting disappointed with my 904sh.. i think the camera module on my fone is dying. pretty high noise and purple fringing on most photos, even in good sunlit scenes

oh wells, its been almost 2 years old already. things get old and die
or am i getting paranoid?

when you first got your 904sh, was it taking pics like how it is now?

I still cant get pictures to look as good as my 903sh, execpt for night pictures, the 904sh just seems to do somewhat better and the LED light seems more functional

I agree with u.. i also cant get pics to look like my previous 903sh. I tried to convince myself that 904sh photo quality is as good as 903sh, just that it has better compression technique. But in actual fact, 904sh is really inferior.. Photos are more blurry than 903sh and with more noise..

For my 904sh, it really seems like theres serious purple noise, or what should i call it? heres 2 examples

Posted by: aw614

on the first picture did you try putting it in the against sun setting?

Posted by: takumi906

if you have shake reduction, thats what made my pics come out like that in daylight. try taking it off if it isnt.

Posted by: aw614

shake reduction didnt see much of a difference in daylight

Posted by: slardar

i didnt turn on shake reduction, and lighting was set to Automatic. Will against sun help in this situation?

the purplish distortion can be seen in over 80% of my photos.

Posted by: rondeltronxcx

umm, for all who wants to capture with a camera, it doesn't matter what kind you have, it's just how you capture things from a different perspective. photography does not reproduce reality. use of proper lighting, and framing has to be comprehended.^_-

Thanks for telling me. The P905i's pics are a lot finer!!! I'm so happy that I got this phone! Even when zoomed into max detail, the tail lights on your car are only slightly blurred. On the N82, it had huge blurr and it looked like a picture drawn from pastel! Lol.

**EDIT**
Looking at the close up pic you too of the front of your car, the headlights are very clear! It's only blurry slightly (I could barely tell until I look at it very carefully). Great stuff!

that seems to be with nokias post processing on the pic, the pastel look...something I dont really like with the pictures off the nokias

I took a picture staring straight at the sun with Sharp 920SH. Do you guys think that black dot is the sun itself??? I took other pictures standing in the same spot with various phones and I didn't get the dot. I think that dot is actually the sun. Not very pretty a small round black ball

Posted by: KBoardBox

You just wrecked your 920's camera lol

Posted by: IonNuke

Yeah it happens.... alot.

Posted by: deasine

uhoh =O oh nos.... that's so weird tho... =(

Posted by: IonNuke

Yeah but the ball in the middle of the sun is really strange. I've tried it it with multiple cell phone cameras and so far only the 920sh shows that black dot of the ugly sun

I guess the sun is black...........it just bleeds it's sun rays at all of us

Posted by: KBoardBox

It's the sensor going nuts because it's too bright. It's really bad for your camera to point it directly at something so bright. My friend wrecked his in Europe by taking a picture of a bright reflection. Now his pictures are all messed up lol

Posted by: IonNuke

I only did it once because I was curious about it and had never did that before. One pictures is enough for me. So I'd really be hosed if it was like a solar eclipse or something right?

Posted by: KBoardBox

Solar eclipse? Isn't that....less light?

Posted by: IonNuke

I dunno but in grade school the teachers always told us not to look directly at the sun during solar eclipse and a couple of us would try to and then we'd see spots and be in the nurse's office enjoying some cold fruit punch and cookies

I think we did so on purpose for the juice and cookies but I wasn't sure about the main purpose.

hehe

haven't been in the sharp forum in a while! can you guys tell me if the new sharp phones can match up to the champion 903? i gave up on sharp phones after the likelyhood of 904's unlocking seemed bad.

some pics taken from my much loved red 903 ....but it'll never workout between us coz shes just too big =(

can anyone post some 920sh pics?

well, it might not work between you and him because 920sh will take even more ****** pictures.

so whats it gonna be? size over quality or quality oversize?

its your choice and you're gonna be happy one way or the other. you just simply can live with both worlds at one.

Posted by: Havo

I agree with what people say about taking pics of bright objects... the thing with camera sensors is that they take in the light... so the more light the better. The only thing is too much is not to good.

Posted by: aw614

Taken tonite @ the bars with my 705SH.

We were really really bored on the way out so my friend decided to get me to take a picture.

Posted by: AL9999

Dom asked me for some low-light comparison pics between a Sharp phone with CCD sensor camera and one with a CMOS sensor camera, so I'm going to post the results here. On the CCD side we've got the 910SH with 5.0 MP, AF and 3x optical zoom, while on the CMOS side stands the 880SH with its 2.0 MP ability, AF and no zoom. For those who don't know the 880SH was also released as the SX663 in Hong Kong and WX-T82 in Taiwan, while a slightly modified version with the same camera module was released in Japan as the 816SH. In any case, most recent Sharp phones with a 2.0 MP camera module and auto-focus, would use the 880SH's camera module.

I've posted lower res pictures in this thread so you can compare pictures side by side. At the bottom of the post I've got links to the full-size pictures uploaded to imageshack.

What we're looking for here is not pixel to pixel quality (I'm comparing 2MP pics with 5MP pics - a bit unfair), but rather the cameras' ability to take a picture in the dark, i.e. how well does each camera expose the scene and how well do they keep graphic noise to a minimum?

All pictures were taken at dusk, so the ambient light level is very low (but there's still some left). Also note the 910SH's wide-angle lens, capturing much more of the scene than the 880SH from the same spot.

Left - 880SH, Right - 910SH. Taken under ambient light filtering in from the blinds. The 910SH captures more light in this scene and gets the better picture.

Left - 880SH, Right - 910SH. Taken under faint incandescent light (tungsten bulbs that are on far behind the camera). The 910SH wouldn't focus this scene properly unless I had the flash turned on, so after repeated attempts I gave up trying to get the focus and just let it take it wrong. It came out ok though. I think the 880SH gets the better picture here. It's got the white balance more accurate while managing to expose the picture as much as the 910SH while keeping noise reasonably low.

Left - 880SH, Right - 910SH. The 910SH failed to properly focus this scene, even though it reported it had got the focus. The 910SH got the sky's colour correct, but exposed the rest of the scene with a blue sheen, whereas the 880SH has the sky a little greenish but got the colours of the rest of the scene right. The 880SH has lots of colourful noise that ruin the picture while the 910SH's noise is a lot less pronounced. Both phones seem to have the same level of light exposed in the picture.

Thankyou very much! Its this lowlight performance that i will be looking forward to. Will be great to be able to leave my camera at home on nights out

Posted by: Havo

910sh takes some nice pics... I wish it can be used elsewhere... I'd def get one.

Posted by: AL9999

Heh, I took those pics while using my 910SH in offline mode, still reprovisioned after having come back from Japan. Not sure how much longer I've got before the multimedia lock kicks in on its own...

Posted by: aw614

lol so you dont turn off your 910sh? or it lets you turn off and on after the repro?

So thats how I've seen people take pictures of taiwan and hong kong with a 910sh on various websites

Posted by: AL9999

I've left it on almost all the time since I've been back from Japan - I only had to reset it (power off and on again) when it wouldn't play videos for some reason (endless loading), and the repro didn't come back in that instance. I came back to Australia on the 23rd of July so it's been nearly a month now and it still hasn't locked up. I've been told by martin that his 912SH locked up about a month after leaving Japan, so maybe the 910SH will lock up tomorrow, haha

In any case it's been fun to play with, I still run the Seiken Densetsu demo games preinstalled in there from time to time

Posted by: aw614

what if you set the date back of the clock of the phone

Posted by: AL9999

Heh I'd love to try, but the fear of accidentally locking it up keeps me from trying Once it locks up again I've got no way of reprovisioning it again... if only the phone roamed and I had an active account with Softbank I could reprovision it though, so annoying

Posted by: tokyo_dom

I turn my 922SH on and off all the time without getting the reprovision prompt. It only comes up when you turn it on without a sim, or put a *different* sim card in it and turn it on. Thats the reason for the rules on the multimedia simhacks - basically they reprovision it once and then. However once a softbank sim is cancelled it loses the ability to connect to the network (constantly displays 圏外) so maybe something goes haywire in that

At anyrate i have me a multimedia unlock (that was meant for my 922SH) which i will try on the 910SH as well (kinda difficult at the moment since my aussie sim doesnt roam internationally)

Posted by: AL9999

This is kinda irrelevant to this thread but as I started talking about it I'll just wrap it up here...

The 910SH just locked up on me tonight; it's now asking for reprovisioning without having done anything at all. It's been exactly one month since I put it in offline mode and left Japan, so I can confirm now exactly one month after a Softbank phone is disconnected from any network (I assume successful connection to a roaming partner resets the timer, but the 910SH has roaming disabled), the provisioning voids and the phone wants itself reprovisioned again. So, no more photos from me sadly

So I took offline mode off, sure enough it searches for Softbank's network and then gives up and says No Service with 圏外 (OUT) in the corner. So I did a quick experiment - I dialled 112, the GSM emergency number. Sure enough, the 910SH connected to the nearest 3G network and the Aus remote dialtone came through - it was ringing. I hung up quickly though, heh.

So, it's capable of running on any 3G 2100 network, not just Softbank; only that by default it attempts to connect to Softbank and then gives up if it doesn't find it. So I'm sure any properly-made hypersim will make the 910SH work outside Japan.

Posted by: IonNuke

I think the hypersims are only mass produced on popularity. I haven't really seen them make one for just one phone thats uber powerful. And since 910SH doesn't support GSM bands the odds of a hypersim being made for that will be even lower.
