I've done a board search and seen this problem with some other panasonic phones. Now it's happening to me. When I get a voicemail, I don't get that glasses icon, and that envelope (tape) thing is just sitting there even though i have no sms or voicemail. How am i suppose to know when I have a new voicemail if there is no indicator?
Also when I check my voicemail, i'll have a message telling me that an sms has arrived... wtf??
Anyway around this issue?
Thanks!

I just called panasonic and he siad the phone was not made for use in the US, so nothing they can do. I'm not sure if anyone using it here in the states has any type of solution or how they deal with it, if so, we would appreciate if someone can offer any help! Thanks

Those SMSs are the messages the voicemail server would ordinarily use to toggle the tape icon. I though GSM was a standard so I don't know why its doesn't work on panasonic phones. In anycase, you can get rid of the little envelope if you turn your phone off and then back on again (until the next time you get a voicemail).
