possibly dumb question about SIM card

I am new to cingular, having been on verizon for years.

I moved to cingular a few weeks ago with a cheap T637 to get me started. The phone is OK, but i'm not in love with it.

If I want to upgrade, is it as simple as buying another phone unlocked and moving the SIM card from the 637 to the new phone? Would cingular even be involved or know about the switch?

thats what I was hoping. its a big reason I moved to cingular to begin with.

now I fear I might turn into a phone ho like some of you guys...

yes, this is an illness that most of us here on this forum share with each other. its something that cannot be denied so we just have to ban together and make the best of it.

You will no doubt turn into a phone ho/addict/junky once you experience the ease of the SIM switch. Just one phone? No, this just won't do--I must have one for one for work, one for the gym, one for fringe reception areas, one that's small enough to carry in the pocket/purse, one with the latest gadgetry, yada yada yada . . .
