MPX220 new internal display quirk started today !

This morning Iutrned on my unlocked MPX220 with a legacy AT&T SIM (which was for Cingular use) and my carrier shows "Cingular Wireless ATT&T Wireless which because of the length overruns the time on the Home page why is this happening and can it be changed? The phone is working fine receiving and sending calls. It used to just say AT&T or CIngular but not both. Naturally Cingular was clueless and told me to wait a day or two. I adjusted the manual to automatic network choice also to no avail.
