MP3 Won't Play on VX8100

I downloaded an .mp3 file to my SD card, and I see it under "My MP3", but when I select it, it won't play. Does any one have some advice?

#1 what firmware version do you have?
#2 try reencoding the mp3 to 128 kbps, there are reports of problems with strange bitrates.
#3 shorten the filename, long filenames aren't supported

I tried shortening the file name, but that didn't work. Can you tell me how to reencode it? And how do I know what firmware version I have. Thanks for the help!

There are many different free audio programs you can use to reencode your files. I use Nero Wave Editor, that comes with the Nero Burning software... you can search the forums to find the free one most ppl are using...

On the firmware Menu->Settings&Tools->System->Device Info->SW Version
It is the first line...

i have v.04 on my vx8100, i've encoded my top songs to mp3 on itunes at 192 kbps; but some songs still won't play on my sd card, does't anybody have any ideas on what i should do? i've also reformatted my card and some of the songs won't play. help?
