I haven't seen much info about KMPT here, so I thought it might be good to start a thread to collect some useful tips on how to use this thing.

How to sych recurring Outlook appointments using Kyocera Mobile Phone Tools.

I have the KX2 with Verizon and use Outlook to keep my calendar appointments. I was dismayed to learn that KMPT and my KX2 do not support the synching of recurring appointments. When you attempt to do this, it will only copy over the first occurrence of the recurring series; the rest are ignored.

There is a work-around that adds a few more steps to the process, which may defeat the purpose of quick synching, but it works.

You must first EXPORT your Outlook calendar as a .csv file (comma separated values). CSV does not support recurrence, so each recurring item in the series will be turned into an individual appointment. I recommend only exporting a limited time frame (maybe two months worth) to keep the data size smaller.

Then, create a NEW calendar in outlook, and IMPORT this CSV file into it. This new calendar is the one that you use to synch to your phone in KMPT.

One problem with this system is that it really only allows for one direction of synching, from the computer to the phone. So, appointments created on your phone will not synch back to your original calendar. A workaround for this is when you create a new appointment on your phone, add an "a-" or something similar in front of the appointment title. This will allow you to quickly see which ones are generated on the phone when you sort the list alphabetically. Then you can manually drag them to your original, master OUTLOOK calendar from within KMPT and hit save.

SOME other synch info in KMPT:
1. I have to use the SYNCHRONIZE process in order for the appointments to synch correctly from Outlook. If I use the copy to phone, then the save button, blank duplicates are created on the phone.
2. Always make backups of your source calendar! I have completely erased my OUTLOOK calendar my accident, just by synching! Follow these steps at your own risk!
3. When I re-synch my calendars at a later time, I usually erase the contents of my phone, and the NEW outlook calendar (the one I import the CSV into) just to start with a blank slate.
