Help me please - Speaker problem NOT ring details

I have a V525M upgraded to a V600. Flash - TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_VA1, Engineering flex. The problem I'm having is with the speaker - plays noises when switching on, key beeps etc. but no ringtones in ringstyles menu or tones for calls. Haven't deleted ringtones before anyone asks - I know how to do that without losing the ringstyles details. Have flashed & flexed on other phones using these files before with no problems. Have tried 3 different speakers, still no music, have put gaintable file on that I have saved that plays music on several other phones. Volume is loud 7 and on Motokit it is high enough that it should be audible. Have changed speaker, flashed, flexed, changed volume, master cleared, changed gain table... What else can I try - would it be likely to be the flex cable ?- I think I changed that too... Have searched all over & found this problem a few times but no answers - people just pointed to the reinstating ringtones details threads and that's not the prob. (I have changed about 8 phones now and have never had this prob before).
