MPx-220 automatically closes apps after 10sec of inactivity

here is the situation....say i hit Contacts at the homescreen, then i need to concentrate on driving, 10 sec later it automatically closes which is a big pain in the ***. or i open WMP10, select a video and hit play, 10sec later WMP10 automatically minimizes while still playing because i havent pressed a button. anyone know of a registry edit that tells the phone when to close apps after inactivity?
