SMT 5600 and Cingular 2125

I'm looking at the Cingular 2125 on the web page and it has Windows mobile 5.0 edition. It looks like the 2003 edition. I just got the SMT 5600 last week, other than EDGE, is there any other reason I should spend another $150 for the 2125? Is EDGE suppose to make the browsing on the phone faster or connecting it to a laptop?

Other than more memory and a better screen... maybe the WM 5.0 and no anoying joystiq ... you really have no reason to get the 2125

Both...

if i were you i would return your smt 5600, since you've had it less than 14 days, and get the 2125

Not to mention the 1.3 mega pixel camera....THe phone is faster on the net, has a better camera, more memory and better toggle stick and the newest OS made by MS for Smartphones. I sell for Cingular Wireless at a company owned retail location. I carry the SMT 5600 and I am getting the 2125 as my work phone. I have used both. It's significant enough of a difference to get the 2125.

I returned my 5600 for the 2125. Why is it an extra $150? I only paid $100 more.

All pre-release speculation that I have ever seen on the 2125 indicated it would have a 1.3 MP camera. The production version I have does have an 1.3 MP camera as the speculation had indicated.

Love the EDGE on the 2125. The improved screen is incredible. The joystick is a great improvement over that roll toggle thing from the 5600.

Everything I read on it said it would be 1.3 MP. What did you read? I work at Cingular. Two of my co-workers got it as their Company Official Use phone one of which I was playing with for a while today, since we were kind of slow. It definitely does have a 1.3 MP camera and I agree about the EDGE being faster. It's really nice. I get mine soon too and I can't wait to get it! The new toggle switch is so much better than the one on my SMT 5600.

I upgraded a few weeks after getting a 5600. The feature that I really wanted was the QVGA screen. Supposedly it is huge improvment.

I guess you were asleep because my local orange store has some 2125s and they do indeed have the 1.3MP camera.

Yes it does have a 1.3MP camera. In all reality though, the pics it takes do not come out that good. They are almost as bad as the 5600 camera pics but bigger and slightly improved and I stress the word slightly. It doesn't bother me at all though. I use my digi cam to take serious pics. It does it's job by taking pics on the go.

sounds like the pics on my W600 which look like doggy-doo in my opinion. but then again, I have yet to own a camera phone that was able to take good pics IMO.

I would go for the 2125. I was looking into these phones too.
The 5600 held pretty good value on ebay. My thoughts after your 1 or 2 year contract the 2125 will still have value. Unless Cingular comes out with 6 Smart phones in the next 2 years. Resale value is what I would look at here.

I owned a 5600 since it was first released (on Blue). I have now had my 2125 for 3 weeks and I would not go back. The screen resolution is the first thing people notice with they see my phone. The enhancements in WM5 are nice, but not a deal breaker. The EDGE speeds are incredible. I am in the 200+Kb/s consistently. I will probably keep my 5600 as a backup phone, but my new primary is the 2125 (at least until my 8125 comes in ).

Maybe you saw the Cingular web site, which seems to list 5600 specs for the 2125.

In there, they tell you the 2125 has a VGA camera and runs WM 2003

QVGA an improvement?

VGA is 640 x 480 pixels. QVGA is therefore one-quarter the area, hence the name Quarter-VGA (QVGA).

Something else people seem to overlook, the 2125 is a quad-band phone, whereas the SMT5600 is only tri-band. If I had a choice, I wouldn't go with a WM phone, though. Symbian is so much better. Then again, they're usually more expensive too.

He's obviously referring to the resolution of the screen, not the camera.
