Copying TXT MSGs From VX4400 w/BitPim

I'm using V0.7.29 of BitPim w/my old VX4400. Been trying to copy all my TXT MSGs over to my computer, however following the copying, I've found that none of the messages can be read normally. I've opened them up in Notepad & WordPad but aside from the first couple of words it's all symbols & gibberish. Is there any way to copy the messages over as they would appear on my phone (fully readable, of course)? Or a program I could download to view them as such?
