Razr Dun does work at 1x! Here is how I did it..

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rwb

Ok I figured I would make this thread to show how I got my Verizon V3c Razr to connect my laptop to the internet via Bluetooth DUN (Dialup Networking) on the 1x network, You can not currently connect via DUN on the EDVO network, at least not yet(yea I know it sucks).

I upgraded from the v710 and used DUN every now and then, it worked perfectly when I needed it. I got the V3c lastnight at BestBuy, got it home and tried to connect via DUN and it didn't work. So below is how I got it to work.

First off DUN via Bluetooth is enabled on most if not all of the V3z's.

Quote:
I have found that the phone MUST be booted with BT ON in order for the modem service to be available.

If you turn on the Phone with BT OFF, then turn ON BT, the modem service is not detected. With BT turned ON, cycle phone OFF/ON, then the BT Modem service will be available via the computer.

I know it has been discovered that cycling off/on brings modem functionality back, but I discovered this to be a little more specific as to why.

Ok so you have to turn off the EDVO on your phone to get DUN to work properly which means your phone will not have VCast, it will simply say VCast coverage not avaliable. Your WAP will still work on the 1x network just fine. You can also turn EDVO back on if you want to by going back into test mode and reversing the changes. It's very simple and takes but a couple mins.

Quote:
To disable EVDO do this:

PLEASE BE CAREFUL. IT IS VERY EASY TO SCREW UP YOUR PHONE FROM WITHIN THE PROGRAMMING MENU.

1. From the main menu, type #073887* then type 000000 for the security code to enter the programming menu
2. Select ok
3. Scroll down to test mode. Enter the menu, highlight "enable" and press the right soft key to select
4. Reboot the phone
5. Hit the left soft key and the menu key simultaneously until a white screen appears with the letters "FTS" on top. This may appear automatically when the phone reboots
6. Hit the right soft key three times
7. Scroll down to "HDR Pref:" and select "CDMA" with the right soft key
8. Scroll down to "HDR Hybr:" and select "off" with the right soft key
9. Push the left soft key and "EXIT"
10. Exit test mode by pushing the clr key then the left soft key
11. Reenter the programming menu and disable test mode
12. Reboot the phone.

JUST BE CAREFULL, as you might ruin ur phone

Ok so after you turn off the EDVO, you have to make one more change in your Dialup Settings:

Quote:
Network Connections Settings (computer dial up settings):
Dial number: #777
Username: "your10digitnumber"@vzw3g.com
Password: vzw
Select Properties,
Select "Options" tab
Under "Dialing options" check "display progress while connecting", "prompt or name and password, certificate, etc.", and "prompt for phone number"
Select Security tab, Select "Advanced" (NOT typical), Under "Data encryption" select "Optional Encryption"
Under "Login Security" select "Allow These Protocols" and check ONLY "unencrypted passwords (PAP)"
Select "Networking" tab
Ensure that "type of dial up" is set to PPP

You should now be able to login without problems and connect to the 1x network. I use Bluetooth to connect my phone to my laptop running xp. Thanks for everybody who provided all the above information, I just put it all together to try to help others from spending so much time trying to figure this all out. It's very frustrating

Yeah, thats pretty much it in a nutshell. No more, No less. Anyone should be able to git-r-DUN following those steps.

but, w/ this setup, vzw can stick it to u w/ the fees by number of kb, right?? or is it just minutes that it uses, like free wap?

thanx

Posted by: ostack

That remains to be seen. With my VX8000, I never was charged any extra, but I also carried the VCAST plan, so unlimited data via VCAST. I don't see how this would be viewed differently, unless they changed something. The next bill will tell.

Posted by: cynical102

not sure, but the access i had on my 710 was similar
it only counted as minutes
i followed the summary in this post and now my razr is working like my 710 did with my laptop

thanks for the summary!

let me make sure one thing: after i disable EVDO, do i need to renable it again? or everthing is settled? i don't really need EVDO. the reason i ask this is because they talk about "test mode"

thanks

I am using a Mac for this and I followed your instructions.....However I am getting an error about the user name and password. Also, what modem string do I need for this? I was using a Treo 650 to connect, will the old modem string I was using work? Thanks for your help.

Posted by: k.double

has anyone gotten their phone stuck in test mode seemingly forever and clr+left soft key continues not to work? any other way to exit test mode?

Posted by: cynical102

a little trick that they don't really specify that works for me is to press the CLR key first, and while holding that, press the left soft key and after a sec let go of CLR and then the left soft key following immediately after

Also, make sure you are not inside a menu that can be exited from, ie, look for an "exit" soft key. Once you are backed out of the menu, use the clr-left soft.

I'm not sure on the MAC. There IS a thread specific to MAC stuff, so you might want to look there first. Also, I think Mark Venture's site may have some info as well.

Once you disable EVDO, you loose the capability to utilize the faster network for browsing the web on your phone (browsing still works in the 1X mode, just a little slower), and you lose VCAST. If you want those features back, you have to go back through the same process to re-enable EVDO.

i still couldnt get out of the test mode. i had to actually change hdr pref back to auto before i could exit.. so if anyone gets stuck in testmode, change the settings back to stock and CLR + LEFT SOFT KEY should work..

Posted by: hendjaz

You can also do "master reset" under "initial setup" and that will return the phone to the original settings, including getting out of the test mode. Be sure to input your changed settings again if you do the reset.

Now if only someone could get this to work with a pocket pc PDA that would rock.

Do a little more searching. Someone posted recently that he got it working with his IPAQ. If I get some time, I may play with my I730 before I sell it.

Posted by: dsb4103

I posted a thread how to get this to work on the a MAC

Posted by: JBHorner

Main menu? There is no concept of a main menu on the V3c. I believe that it should say from the main/home screen, as it's not really a menu.

On other Motorolas, the sequence to exit test mode is to press the left soft key. I found that pressing the CLR and left soft key did so for me.

Posted by: ostack

CLR-Left Soft seems inconsistant. It has worked for me before, but I'm not sure why it doesn't always work. I think while you are navigating through the test menus, you are also navigating through the normal phone menu at the same time, but you don't realize it because the test menu is overlayed on top. Maybe you have to be in a specific screen in the phone menu (Home Screen?) for it to work.

WORKS BEAUTIFULLY! Anyone know got an early bill yet that tells whether you got data usage charges or not?

Posted by: SilverstoneTTL

Ummmm ****, I got into test mode and now Im seemingly stuck in it....nothikng about fts coming up for me...what do i do?!
.

Posted by: ouneal

Works great here. anyone know how to get it work under EVDO?

Posted by: Maverickster

I didn't follow the instructions posted here, but am, basically, using DUN as I write this via USB connection to my phone and the "internet connection" button in MPT. That said, I HAVE gotten my bill since having done this and it DID NOT show up as anything except minute usage. So, good news on two fronts. First, if you're not in an EVDO-network, all you need is a USB cord and MPT (set up as discussed ad nauseum elsewhere in this forum) and you're in business, it'll automatically dial #777 and log you in, etc. Second, DUN only hits you for minute usage not data transfer or any of that other garbage. GL all.

I've had an aircard and use it constantly. For $60 a month it gives me great speeds anywhere i connect. The best part is that i get to talk on my RAZR while i'm on my pc.

Most people don't use it enough to justify the $60/month.

Posted by: jps330

Does anyone know why I'm getting a username/password error when i attempt to login with this config? Thanks.

Posted by: jps330

Ok forget my last post.

Just in case anyone is wondering though, if you follow these directions using a USB cable, you do not need to disable EVDO and you will still connect 1x ( I connected at about 230 kb). If you use MPT though and try to connect your looking at much lower speeds on QNC.

Lastly, on my electronic logging of my bill there is no sign of data usage while doing this.

Posted by: D*ckhead

I'm also getting username/password error. How did you correct it?

Posted by: D*ckhead

Has anyone else had username/password problems? And how did they correct these problems?

What modem driver is everyone using? I've got Mobile Phone Tools working but it seems to want to connect to the old 14k system. And I get username/password error.

Posted by: jps330

Make sure that you are disconnected from the internet that you use where you are currently then try again. Ive been able to connect everytime with DUN when I unplug my internet.

Also at 230 kb am I connecting through 1x? Can anyone else report what speed they are connecting at by this method?

Posted by: jps330

Ok ive been doing some research and I dont believe its possible that im connecting through 1x at 230 kb since everywhere ive read is claiming an increase to only about 90kb. Is it possible im connecting through EVDO?

Still doesn't work for me -- username/password error.

Are you using web/web

A question for you guys. When I try to connect to the DUN service over BT, I get the error. The Dial-up Networking connection failed: The operation could not be complete. The error was 0x81000015. Any suggestions?

Posted by: wnrussell

What kind of speed is the 1x equal to? I am able to get a regular BT DUN connection where the phone says 14.4 connection until I disconnect.

All I did was set my AOL account to dialup with "Best Modem Detected". Then I can minimize the app and use Outlook to chech my mail.

Posted by: whakojacko

It works!!!! thank you everyone so much!!!. I says 115.2 kpbs I know im not getting that but thanks sooooo much. I havent disabled Ev-Do yet because I live in 1xRTT land, so no need (but I will later). Anyone who had the 0x81000015 error I had go http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-85929 here, thats how I got around it. Now only to figure out the charges for this.....

Posted by: bloo

Don't know if this was answered, but i got my bill and DUN showed up as "data", but i was not billed. i got a "UA" and "UW"- unlimited allowed and unlimited weekend/nights, but NO additional charges. It seems to have just used my minutes.

It was not really answered, I think most like me were still waiting for the paper bill, online you can't get a detailed list from Verizon until the bill is sent out. So THANKS, it is what we all WANTED to hear! I have NO data plan with them, but did take the advice to turn OFF EVDO, as someone said that can tip them off. Then again, if it shows up as "data" on the bill they will know what's going on, but will hopefully leave us alone and keep us as happy customers. For me personally it would be a way to access mail on the road and I don't do that often.

Posted by: Donkey

I can use my stock V3c to connect with MPT without any problem. I got 114kbs. I used it a few times at night so hopefully I wouldn't be charged for it. On the phone display, it said #777.

Posted by: hawkeyeh

I thought this was wierd. The very first time I used the phone to connect to the internet, the words "Packet Data" showed up at the top of both the inside and outside screens as well as an icon at the top of the screen with a phone and arrows going back and forth. The phone manual says this symbol show during data call, tethered mode, or WAP/BREW applications. Did this happen to anyone else cause I haven't seen it mentioned yet?

Yes, seen both when I have used the phone as a wireless modem. Following instructions on this site to first disable EVDO mode, to get to the 1x Network, as you say "tethered mode", something Verizon does not seem to want us to do without paying for data contracts. The arrows are there, and it worked. Perhaps the more experienced here can attest, but it seems "normal behavior" to me the few tests I have done. Did it during the "free" or should I say "included" hours during the weekend. As many have pointed out, we pay for our minutes and should be able to use them as we please, but I'm now waiting for the "paper bill", to confirm I'm just using "minutes" and not getting hit for data minutes as well.

Quoted from the very first post: "Scroll down to "HDR Pref:" and select "CDMA" with the right soft key . . . Scroll down to "HDR Hybr:" and select "off" with the right soft key"

My phone has been acting f***ed up ever since I disabled EVDO (ie., white screen of death, never connecting calls). Does anyone know what the original setting was for the HDR Pref so I can turn EVDO back on? Or is there a turn EVDO back on tutorial around here somewhere? For one, I assume this is making my phone act up, and secondly tethering on the 1X network provides virtually similar bandwidth speed to dial-up, so I don't need it anyway.

While the "howard forums" is a decent place to get a lot of info, I can only assume there are not enough MODS that can devote/donate their time. So I find myself following 10 threads of which the subject matter is for about 3 items. Another words, threads start as one topic and go way off topic on other points. Once this snowballs, I admit I have added to off topic threads myself, no going back. So here is your answer, with link and pasted text as well.

INFO FROM THIS PAGE:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...4&page=22&pp=15

Read the whole thing you will find the "default", I made a note of it before changing it myself. Good luck.

STEPS TO ENABLE MOTO RAZR CELL PHONE (V3c Verizon) AS MODEM VIA BLUETOOTH, FOR CONNECTION TO LAPTOP (Tiger 10.4.3)

HOW TO TURN OFF EVDO
(Experts say this must be done to access the 1x Verizon Network, ICON on phone will show "1x", not "EVDO".) Also important so Verizon does NOT know you are "tethering" to their Network, as this is NOT allowed, they want to sell "data packages". Some say it helps battery time, other say the opposite. The phone will not have VCast, it will simply say VCast coverage not avaliable. Your WAP will still work on the 1x network just fine. So I'll turn it back on by reversing the procedure when NOT using the phone as a modem.

1. From the main screen, type #073887* (MUST DO THIS QUICKLY) Then enter personal security code. (Default is 000000, changed mine)
2. Scroll down to Test Mode, select it and enable it. Use "right soft key".
3. Hit End (Red hang up) HOLD until Phone SHUTS DOWN.
4. Reboot, Turn Phone BACK ON.
5. You should go right to a white screen. Hit the right arrow until you hit a screen with a long list of parameters including HDR Prefs
6. Scroll down to it and change it using the right arrow key from Auto to CDMA (AUTO IS THE DEFAULT).

NOTE: Next line down: "HDR Hybr:" (ON IS THE DEFAULT) One post said to set it to "OFF", others said NOT to. Tested, worked both ways!

7. From this WHITE Screen, you can click the EXIT button (Left Soft Key), then,
8. To EXIT "Test Mode", Hit CLR and the LEFT soft button; you should be back at the normal home screen. (HARD to press both KEYS, at the same time!) TIP: Press the CLR key first, and while holding that, press the left soft key and after a sec let go of CLR and then the left soft key following immediately after.
9. Now Must redo original steps, from main screen: #073887* and disable Test Mode, click EXIT-END button till back at Main Screen, did NOT need to reboot phone.

========================================

BLUETOOTH SETUP

Originally you pair your V3c phone to your computer using Blue Tooth Setup, it gives you an option at the end called something like use 1xRTT for high speed service.

Once you click ok on that youll be sent to a menu that gives you options for user name passwords string and such

Username : xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3g.com (X= this is your cellphone number 10 digits)
Password: vzw
String: #777

For the Modem driver use modem script in dropdown menu: "Verizon Support (PC 5220).

==========================================

APPLE OSX SETUP (Tiger 10.4.3)

Before making and running the AppleScript below, when trying to "connect", I kept getting "Authorization Failed" messages after Internet Connect program would "disconnect". Looking at the "log file", I could see "CHAP Authorization Failed".

-------------- PASTED FROM ORIGINAL AUTHOR -----------------------

I got it working you need to force it to use pap. I found an applescript somwhere which will do it. Here it is, you have to open your applescript editor. Then paste it in there and run it, and save it.

CODE START:

display dialog "This script disables CHAP support in Mac OS X.

You will now be asked for your admin password
in order to modify a system file (/etc/ppp/options)." buttons "OK"
set normal_command to "touch /etc/ppp/options;chmod a+w /etc/ppp/options;echo \"refuse-chap
refuse-mschap
refuse-mschap-v2\" > /etc/ppp/options;chmod a-w /etc/ppp/options"
do shell script "sh -c " & quoted form of normal_command with administrator privileges
display dialog "Thank you.

To re-enable CHAP authentication, remove
the /etc/ppp/options file." buttons "OK" giving up after 5

END CODE:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you use other DUN connections, not sure what this will do.

CHAP (wikipedia) is a protocol for encrypting your password over PPP. OS X seems have some type of autodetection mechanism for determining if and which encryption protocol it should use when connecting via PPP, evidently this doesn't work so well. So this applescript disables CHAP forcing OS X to always use PAP. Once I have some more time, I will look into ways for just disabling PAP for the one network connection, because this disables it for all PPP (dialup) connections.

MY NOTES ON THIS SCRIPT:
If you are at all concerned, and you know your way around the mac a bit, you can copy the original file "options", mine was ZERO bytes, the NEW one after making and running the script is 43 bytes. The folders are invisible, but once in there you can even open that file in TextEdit, save em both if you like someplace else as well. I used a program called "PathFinder" to see into the invisible folders, but other tiny apps are available.

Open Apple's Internet Connect program and you should be able to make online connection.

**** HAVE NOT TRIED ADDING MODEM STRING ADVICE BELOW **

ALTERNATE LOGIN OPTIONS:

1st OPTION:

Don't have National Access enabled on your account or live in an area where 1xRTT isn't available? Depending on your area, you might also have access to Verizon's older Quick2Net connection. This method of connecting gives data rates roughly equivalent to a 14.4 modem—significantly slower than the National Access 1xRTT connection. Also, Verizon has indicated that it will eventually go away as more areas get equipped to handle National Access, but for the time being, it offers a painfully slow opportunity to check your email. Just setup your phone following the above steps, but use the username "qnc" and the password "qnc". Several readers have also indicated that in order to use Quick2Net, you'll also need to add the Following string to your modem initialization script:
write "AT$QCMDR=2\13"
Special thanks to Steven Sather for being the first to provide the actual text to add to your initialization script to make Quick2Net work properly.

IN BLUETOOTH CONNECT WINDOW:
TELEPHONE NUMBER: #777
ACCOUNT NAME:qnc
PASSWORD: qnc
----------------------------- END------------------------

I've managed to set up a dialup connection using MPT to my own ISP, which seems to work OK. Phone displays a speed of 14.4kbs, but Win XP displays something like 230Kbs. I have to believe 14.4 is the correct speed. Can anyone else confirm? If you set up DUN using the advice in the previous posts (rather than using MPT as I do), do you get any faster speed than what I am seeing in MPT? I assume that I am only connecting over 1xRTT since EVDO is not available in my area (the phone also displays 1x which should be right . Hopefully you all can confirm the speeds you see... Thx

Posted by: ostack

the 230K speed reported by XP is referring to the connection between your computer's USB interface, and the phone. That means it would support a data rate up to 230Kbps if you could push data that fast through it. Unfortunately, these little phones are nowhere near saturating that bus. maybe in a few years they will ge the speeds up to a really usable bandwidth that would justify a $60 or $70 monthly fee for unlimited use.

as ostack pointed out, 230.4Kbps is the Port speed (usb to phone)... not your actual connect speed.

if connecting to a traditional Dial-up ISP (like AOL, NetZero, etc), you will get only 14.4kbps connections between the "modem" and ISP.

When connecting to Verizon's Express Network or 1xRTT connection, you will get average through puts of 70-90kbps burstable up to 144kbps.

If making an EVDO connection to Verizon's network, they claim you will get average through puts of between 400-600kbps burstable up to 2Mbit/sec.

Yes, the idea of the instructions in this thread are to use Verizon's 1xRTT connection... Now, since you are connecting to Verizon's network, and not your ISP, your email client settings may need to change so you can send/receive using your ISP's mail servers...

again, if dialing a traditional ISP, you are not using either 1xRTT or EVDO...

Thanks ostack and Mark V for the insight...has anyone tried using MPT to connect to 1xRTT??? Have you been successful??? Have you been charged for it by Verizon??? I'm trying to avoid the phone reconfig if I can...I'd hate to FUBAR my RAZR by accident...

Has anyone been able to get this working on a Palm PDA? I used to use my Palm with my v710, and it worked flawlessly. Now I disabled EVDO on the v3c, but have still not been able to get it to work on the Palm. I'm getting an authentication failure (0x1233) on the Palm.

My laptop seems to be working, but not sure why it doesn't on the Palm although the settings are the same.

Posted by: zanadu9co

I've gone through all the same steps from above for the V3C, but with my motorola e815 instead. I'm running the new firmware 01.1E.00 and have been able to get DUN via BT to work on the 1XRTT network with my Windows XP PC by defaulting to PAP authentication. If only I could get this to work on my iPAQ as well. I am able to dial up my ISP at 14.4k, but continue to get a 'wrong password or user name error' when I dial #777 to vzw like I do from my PC. I've read that the ipaq defaults to CHAP authentication... does anyone know of any third party software or perhaps a initialization string I could use to force the ipaq bluetooth stack to use DUN with PAP authentication?

At this point I'm debating flashing back to the 1.17.00 firmware..

I did this on my e815 with the new firmware and was stuck in the test mode for awhile. Clr + Left soft key was not working at all. Just about to go into panic mode when I looked back at the instructions. I pressed the LEFT softkey and the MENU button at the same time and it exited test mode for me (finally!).

DUN is working for me now. Just ran a speed test at bandwidthplace.com and got a reading of 111.7 kbps.

Thanks for the help all. Now I gotta go take my blood pressure.

To the v3c users having the bad username\password problem - has anyone been able to fix it? I tried making the test mode mods at the beginning of this post, but it still doesn't work. I'm using Data Pilot (as opposed to MPT) using a USB cable. I also tried dropping my main internet connection as previously recommended. The only thing I can think of now is to try MPT instead. Data Pilot always worked flawlessly over USB using my 710. Any help would be great. Thx.

One more thing to note. Data Pilot creates a DUN connection in XP - If I tell that connection to use SLIP as opposed to PPP, I can connect w/ no username or password errors (but obviously Slip can't get you on the internet). PPP just drops the connection after 1 second and reports bad username\password. I use xxx@vzw3g.com / vzw
where xxx is my cell number.

For the Palm with DUN and the V3M you need to disable the PAP required on the phone. Forum member Mark Venture had info on his web site that allows you do this, using a seem edit and QPST to make a file change on the phone. His info is here:http://mark.cdmaforums.com/NoPapDun.htm

Posted by: kenoshabrian

Did the QPST edit thing, and now it works with evdo , I did a speedtest 337.6 kbits /41.2kb per second 24.8 seconds for a 1 MB file

I am not going to use it anymore for at least 24 hours and do #data and see if KB usage shows up

Not bad.

*Edit: and this was on my x51v axim*

What edit did you do to enable EDVO?

I have a V3m with a laptop and have been reading every thread about accessing EN using airtime minutes only. I have it set up and it will dial, then I get an error that I dont have a data plan and it says to call Verizon. I assume that the configuration is correct as far as the setting since I get past the verifying of user and password. I called Verizon 3 times and each time selected a different department....First call was to tech support. They told me I have to purchase the $60 a month broadband plan. They had no clue about EN. Then I called customer service and they told me that if I purchsed the Mobile Office Kit (which I dont need) that I can access EN (he called it Quick to net?) using minutes only BUT there is a kb per usage charge. He said the only free part is the access to the EN, then I would be charged by how many kilobits I use. As an example, he said AOL's home page would cost around $7 to view due to the graphics. Anyone have any ideas? Does turning off the EDVO allow me to access the EN "under the radar" without a kilobit charge or will I still be charged a kilobit rate of usage? At this point, I have tried so many configurations and setting changes trying to get this to work that my heads spinning!!...Most of the thread I have read and older and I would like to hear from someone who has access to the EN currently. Thanks for any help.

this will tell you how to enable PAP which is what you MAC users dont have enabled by default hope this helps

"The problem lies with what’s called PAP authentication. Mac OS X does not provide a simple checkbox to turn PAP authentication on or off. To enable (or disable) PAP authentication, you must go through several steps in the Terminal."

WHAT

first of all, you're in the wrong forum. second of all, the word is "flagged."

and finally, there is nothing wrong with a mac computer just like there is nothing wrong with a vista box. personal preference.

Yea i PREFER to use them as anchors unless its xp they got but anyway i suggest if you guys are gonna use dun do it in 1x but verizon does state on there site which i read that tethering on evdo is violation of terms of agreement and subject to termination which is why i stick to using the slower signal they state nothin about tethering in 1x hence a loop hole (evil laugh) lol

Posted by: minmaster

isn't 1x speed tethering now charged $1.99 per MB with newly revised vz plans?

now that vz charges per MB, does it matter whether you use the x amount of data over EVDO or 1x? what's the point of using slow speeds if you're being charged according to data transfered anyways?

Well the vcast vpak which i have gives me unlimited kb anyway just how much idk but i have already used 20mb lol so ill come back to this thread and tell you guys how the bill came and let you know. I should know by dec 20 they post it online but i get the bill in january

Posted by: minmaster

dude a lot of people who have vcast vpak use DUN tethering at EVDO speeds and vz seems to be fine with it. afterall, you are paying 15 bucks a month and most people here who do that do it just so they can tether at EVDO speeds.

i don't know if they really do charge per MB at 1x speeds if you don't sign up for vcast, but imo they shouldn't and keep it how it used to be before. they never much cared about 1x tethering, just EVDO tethering tbh.

Oh ok just that i never used dun before so i am bein careful but verizon does evdo is not be used for tethering so i just wanna be careful bout if i use it at that speed. Anyone here tethered on evdo with the vpak? How many kbs did you use?

Posted by: brazil lgc

I am trying to push left soft key and menu key at same time but is not working.
Can anyone help, is there a different option.

Also when I reboot my cell it seems that my phone is out of the test mode

Posted by: nemesis91101

ok they DO NOT charge 1mb at 1x speed of you have the vpak. I just got the bill statement and there are no data charges. I used 20mb on evdo speed then i used it on 1x for awhile and got no charges. Verizon data limit is 5gb so just dont go over that. I have the family share plan with unlmtd in calling and the vpak

Posted by: minmaster

yeah if you're paying for vcast vpak, then just tether DUN with EVDO speed no need to torture yourself with 1x speeds.

Posted by: nemesis91101

i know lol just thats the first time i dun it and a vzw rep said they would just know if you tethered and i would get charged 1.99 per mb even if i had the vpak but she lied haha if i was a vzw rep i would so share exploits like this one all over the web. I love electronics hopefully ill get a job a vzw soon and ill hook ya guys up on all the info

My laptop seems to be working, but not sure why it doesn't on the Palm although the settings are the same.

NJ, were you ever able to get this working? I've been trying to find a way to set up my V9m like my old 710/Tungsten 3 pairing without having to edit seems and have not found it yet.
