I have found that the phone MUST be booted with BT ON in order for the modem service to be available. If you turn on the Phone with BT OFF, then turn ON BT, the modem service is not detected. With BT turned ON, cycle phone OFF/ON, then the BT Modem service will be available via the computer. I know it has been discovered that cycling off/on brings modem functionality back, but I discovered this to be a little more specific as to why. |

To disable EVDO do this: PLEASE BE CAREFUL. IT IS VERY EASY TO SCREW UP YOUR PHONE FROM WITHIN THE PROGRAMMING MENU. 1. From the main menu, type #073887* then type 000000 for the security code to enter the programming menu 2. Select ok 3. Scroll down to test mode. Enter the menu, highlight "enable" and press the right soft key to select 4. Reboot the phone 5. Hit the left soft key and the menu key simultaneously until a white screen appears with the letters "FTS" on top. This may appear automatically when the phone reboots 6. Hit the right soft key three times 7. Scroll down to "HDR Pref:" and select "CDMA" with the right soft key 8. Scroll down to "HDR Hybr:" and select "off" with the right soft key 9. Push the left soft key and "EXIT" 10. Exit test mode by pushing the clr key then the left soft key 11. Reenter the programming menu and disable test mode 12. Reboot the phone. JUST BE CAREFULL, as you might ruin ur phone

I upgraded from the v710 and used DUN every now and then, it worked perfectly when I needed it. I got the V3c lastnight at BestBuy, got it home and tried to connect via DUN and it didn't work. So below is how I got it to work. First off DUN via Bluetooth is enabled on most if not all of the V3z's. Ok so you have to turn off the EDVO on your phone to get DUN to work properly which means your phone will not have VCast, it will simply say VCast coverage not avaliable. Your WAP will still work on the 1x network just fine. You can also turn EDVO back on if you want to by going back into test mode and reversing the changes. It's very simple and takes but a couple mins. Ok so after you turn off the EDVO, you have to make one more change in your Dialup Settings: You should now be able to login without problems and connect to the 1x network. I use Bluetooth to connect my phone to my laptop running xp. Thanks for everybody who provided all the above information, I just put it all together to try to help others from spending so much time trying to figure this all out. It's very frustrating ![]() |

The phone manual says this symbol show during data call, tethered mode, or WAP/BREW applications. Did this happen to anyone else cause I haven't seen it mentioned yet?

My phone has been acting f***ed up ever since I disabled EVDO (ie., white screen of death, never connecting calls). Does anyone know what the original setting was for the HDR Pref so I can turn EVDO back on? Or is there a turn EVDO back on tutorial around here somewhere? For one, I assume this is making my phone act up, and secondly tethering on the 1X network provides virtually similar bandwidth speed to dial-up, so I don't need it anyway. |
. Hopefully you all can confirm the speeds you see... Thx

My laptop seems to be working, but not sure why it doesn't on the Palm although the settings are the same. |
