VX8100 and Calendar Sync

My new VX8100 will be here tomorrow. I found out (after ordering it) that the calendar on the phone can't be sync'd. I use DataPilot currently on my lg 6000 and it works like a champ. Calendar sync is important to me. Even the Verizon software you can buy separately won't sync or download the calendar.

I suspect Verizon crippled this feature like all the other ones so they can try to sell a download/sync service or something.

Does anyone have a hack or way to allow the calendar to be downloaded to the phone?

Thanks

The 8100 should be supported. You probably just need to update your software. I am using it with the 9800.

use bitpim, it can sync with the 8100 calendar

I've used bitpim for my 6000, seems to work okay. I'll try it on my 8100 when the cable gets here. Thanks

If you want to get out of buying a new data cable every time, you should consider a bluetooth adaptor for your PC. That way as long as you get another bluetooth phone, there's nothing to buy.

Am I missing something? I can have BitPim read the calendar and write the calendar to the phone, but it doesn't Sync, right? Sync would allow me to change an item on the phone and have it update the calendar in Outlook, right?

Thanks!

Yes, we are using the term "sync" rather loosely here. None of this software does a sync like the Palm software does. You essentially need one version of the truth, i.e. always send data from PC to phone.

Okay, I got the cable, and started working with bitpim 8.04. I can import the outlook calendar to bitpim, and then dump it to the phone. It takes almost two minutes to start (while "reading filesystem"?) but it does work. Note it is a dump, not a sync. Please pardon my loose usage of the term "sync" earlier.

I used bitpim to import the phone book from my old 6000, then to dump it into the new VX8100.

The calendar is much prettier on the 8100. Looks like all day meetings are imported as 12am to 12am meetings, which make them show up on TWO days. Annoying.

I transferred some wallpapers and images. Man this is is slow. I had to set the PC connection to COM port not USB, I guess that is why. I got the cable from susteen, since I thought I was going to use their software. Then I found out their software doesn't download the calendar... So i'm using bitpim now. I'm going to invest in a BlueTooth USB adaptor, as someone has already suggested.

This is a sweet phone, I have yet to find a problem with it.
