I was wondring if there was a way to setup any BB so that when you recive and email it goes into a certain folder and when you receive a sms it goes in a differnt folder as oppse to having them all in the same forder. Can this be done? TIA

No, at least not through BWC/BIS. The filter options that are allowed involve email addresses and subjects, there's no way to filter out "SMS" vs "email"--its all considered the same really when it comes in to BWC/BIS. (this may be different for other carriers, I don't really know--the info I provided is from looking into Nextels BWC).

However, if you're just trying to find a way to view SMS/MMS messages you have received in the past or something, you can go into your Messages app on the bb and select View Folder from the menu options, and then select the SMS or MMS Inbox--this will allow you to view your SMS/MMS messages only.

There are no folders on the Blackberry -- so no.

^^Not 100% true...there are in fact folders on a blackberry, but messages (whether they be email, MMS or SMS) can only come in to the inbox. After they're in the inbox (your messages app, basically), messages can be sorted into the folders you have created in BWC/BIS, and the stored messages in those folders can be viewed as well.

They are there but it's tedious enough to use them that I can't see anyone doing this from a practical standpoint.

I don't know what you mean, tedious, it only takes a couple of clicks and TW rolls to file a message in a specific folder and makes using the Blackberry much easier to use. Keeping the Message Page clean is just a matter of habit. Much the same as keeping your outlook inbox clean. And having your messages and emails organized makes it easier to find those pesky important ones quickly.

Hope this helps.

^^ Agreed, and well said. Saying that using the folders on a blackberry is tedious makes other apps just sound horrible. Can you imagine...having to actually type in a contact??!! Oh the horror!!!!

Its really not that difficult to do, but if you aren't used to doing it it will take some getting used to and all, just as anything new will....

If you are using the web client, you can define filters by From, Subject, body and have them placed in certain folders and whether or not the get sent to the BB. They will still come into the inbox on the BB.
