Ok so I was just about to buy a 1gb mini sd for my 903 on ebay. They're so hard to find here in the U.S. for some reason. I've tried everywhere Frys, Best Buy, Ritz Camera, etc. etc. you name it... So I'm about to buy it now then I see that there's a 2gb mini sd card out now! Now I'm saying S#it! I'm afraid to buy one because I don't know if my phone will accept the card. Does anybody have one for their 903? Any problems? Or is 1gb the max I can have for this phone? So confusing!

Posted by: totaltoanage

you dont need a 2gb unless you really want to spend more money for it. 1gb is alot.

Posted by: rip

Try here for your 1GB, those 2gb from TECIC are only in Taiwan right now.

Yeah I don't think anyone's tried them yet because they're too expensive, however 2GB SD cards have been confirmed to work in 902SHs, so there's a good chance a 2GB miniSD will work with the 903. Don't quote me on that one though.

Posted by: BXNYC

Well the 2gb mini sd's I've seen on ebay all average around $160-170 USD. I know 1GB is a lot but I'm planning to put a whole lot of of music and a couple of movies on my phone. Wanted an iPod but that's like an extra $300 I'd have to spend. I spend a lot for this 903 so I might as well make the best of it. Does anyone know sites that sell 2gb mini sd's?

903sh only supports up to 1 GB....it can't read 2GB mini sd card
We tried it already

Posted by: raine2x

^darn that sux, would've been cool, i didn't even think i'd fill up my 1gig cards strictly on mp3s alone.. i didn't even think i had that much music i like listening to.. lol.. usually i put 10 songs on repeat, but i guess i got carried away, when i thought 1gig was a big enough space.. lol, darn that 2gb would've been niceeeee

May also depend on brand, some of the brands will not work, so unless you've tried all of the mini-sds i wouldn't come to that conclusion...~

What brand was the 2gb mini sd that you tried. I asked this guy on ebay that was selling a TOPRAM brand mini sd if it would work on the 903 and he said yes. I'm afraid he might be just saying that so that I would buy it. Anyone ever heard or used this brand before?

Thanks for the insight. I wish that I could try the mini sd cards in my phone before I buy them but that'll never happen. No store in their right mind would ever allow that. Maybe if they had an opened used package maybe? lol.

I want a 2GB one as well but then if I got my friend to bring it from Taiwan and then it didn't work well that would suck.

since you're from NYC , did you try J&R ? cause i'm pretty sure they'll have it. but tat's for the 1gb. not sure bout the 2gb mini sd though. i'm looking into getting a 1gb myself too.

Posted by: 1tym

Some places have open boxed items that MAY let you try them out, i realize that it is impossible for you to try every brand since most places sell them still seal in the packaging and new.

Yeah I'm originally from NYC but living in Los Angeles now. Where's J&R Manhattan? I'm going back for XMAS on Thurs. the 22nd. I might check them out after XMAS.

it's over at cityhall. can't miss it. it's like the biggest electronic store in NYC.

What brands of SD cards are KNOWN to work on the 903 right now?
Did anyone make a list of working cards?

Anyone know if the SanDisk Mini SD 1GB works, i heard it does...

Yes it does. The only other brands I know for sure that work w/the 903 are Kingston & PNY. Fry's Electronics here in Cali has a brand called Patriot that sells a 1gb but haven't heard anything about them. Real cheap though at only $79.99. There's a brand called TOPRAM that makes a 2gb mini sd. You can see their auctions on ebay. Coincidently a person working for TOPRAM is here on HOFO. I asked him if their 2gb mini sd is compatible w/the 903. Will post results as soon as I here from him.

It'd be nice if your company could test it out for us

So I see TOPRAM's site and the list of all their customers who have bought a 2gb mini sd courtesy of topram (thanks!). A lot of Nokia customers on there. I know Nokia phones are very easy to use from past experience w/previous phones so is it ok to assume that a 2gb would work w/a sharp no problem? Any opinions on this?

Posted by: BMWFilms

It works on Motos and one NEC N840....hmmm

Posted by: BMWFilms

Taiwan's TECIC 2GB miniSD card works with the 903. I've seen it tested on someone's phone so I'm guessing TOPRAm's will work as well

Posted by: BXNYC

I was searching the net and I came across this site. I didn't even know that Sandisk made a 2gb mini sd already. The site also claims to have different brands of 2gb mini sd cards. Even Toshiba and Panasonic? HMMMM... seems kinda fishy to me. I haven't even seen a 1gb from Toshiba yet. What do you guys think? Fakes? See for yourself and let me know what's up.

Yeah I'll probably will give them all call. Not all the brands have the same exact data transfer speed right? Which one did you buy? What do you suggest?

I had ordered some Lexar CF cards for my digicams, i'm trying to source a local Canadian seller that actually has inventory, since i don't wish to pay extra duty to the Canadian Revenue department other than the taxes

The fastest miniSD cards are made by ATP; "1gb x150", but as told by others here a normal card would be adequate for use with the 903.

Posted by: Vt_Mc

Becareful with some of the 2 gig MiniSD. It may work, but when taking a picture with the option of saving to the Card directly it is SUPER slow.

Then perhaps, the ATP's 1GB x150 is the best buy becuase of it's fastest write speed?

Posted by: BMWFilms

Hey rip...where you pick up the ATP from? Local GTA store or what?

Prorably. I'm using a SanDisk 1 gig MiniSD myself and it's been great.

Posted by: csviegas

I just got my ATP 1 GB x150 but for some reason it takes about the same time or even longer to save pics. I dont know why. I'm still trying to figure it out. Here is the thread I started recently. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=828299

Average card reader in the market is about 66X ... your card (80X / 100X 150X) will not run at 150X going thru the avg card reader ...

You need to have a hi-speed card reader to "see" that transfer rate and "feel" it take less time to copy or save pics to your desktop.

For HiSpeed Card card reader .. try GL-819 ... good luck

Posted by: csviegas

Thanks for your help topram. What I meant was the phone (Sharp 903 SH) doesnt save a picture to the memory card any faster than a 60x miniSD when I click a photo. If this is so there is no need to buy a faster card like the ATP 150x. So topram, what you said in the previous post, I guess it refers to the phone's capability too. So I'm guessing in this case the phone is the thing slowing me down. Is this right?

Posted by: topram

Yes, this is correct .. > in this case the phone is the thing slowing me down. Is this right

I have to be honest here, since a lot of readers are reading ..

If your device can't support 150X now, you will not get the full benefits out of the 150X card, regardless what brand you buy.

Most of the hardwares.... can't get there .. yet .. Cam / card reader / MP3 / phones ..
>>FYI .. only 2 card readers in the market I know support 150X as of today.

-Why buy 150X ?
Some device support it.
More devices will support it soon.
Read Write Faster, save time.
Not cost too much over 60X cards ..
Rich

-Why not buy 150X ?
Most devices not support now.
Save a few bucks.
Don;t care ..
No idea of the real difference...

Will let all readers figure what is the right card for them then ... : )

Posted by: csviegas

Wish I knew this before I bought it. Anyway, at least its waterproof. lol. Too bad the phone's not waterproof too. Well thanks for your help topram. Greatly appreciate it.

Posted by: Evo_jai

I wonder, if the 2GB SanDisk miniSD Card will work on 903 , please i want to know

Posted by: Timsta
