Camera problem - Lines

Yeah, I've had my 903SH for 2 months now and today I noticed something. My camera all of a sudden has weird lines all over the image. They are there even before I take the picture but they aren't there on any other pictures that I didn't take before a couple hours ago. Is my phone's camera ruined?

Here are some pics of before/after.

Before:

After:

I don't know what happened. Has anyone ever had this problem? Will it go away? I'm concerned because of all the money I spent on this phone and now this.

dude thats sick, i did you should reflash it, it looks like a software problem. go for it.

How can it be a firmware problem? All of a sudden these lines show up?

I'm thinking water or something got in. I don't know how I did that. I'm letting it dry and I'll check it out tomorrow. It's super strange and making me super nervous.

C'mon, anyone? I don't know how or why this happened.

I noticed the internal camera is fine, so it's just the 3.2mp one. Can this be fixed/replaced? If so, where could I take it? I don't know of anywhere near me that sells these.

I'm guessing here, but it can't be the fact that water got into the lense. This is because pictures that you are taking don't immediately look blurred through the viewfinder, that would be the case if there was something in the lense. What the problem seems to be is perhaps your firmware, that would be the best guess I could offer you, depending on who flashed your phone for you, you could get your phone reflashed for free. good luck with that though.

Your 903SH was wet before??
Anyways, did the line showed up on the screen as well when you're taking the shots?
Or do they just appeared after you dl the picture to your computer?
I'm positive that if those line showed up on your screen too, then it's a hardware problem. Otherwise, it could be the firmware.

Hope your 903SH gets well soon...!

It shows up on the screen as I am taking them. When I look at older pics, they are fine, so it's not the screen.

I'm just guessing it got wet or something. They way water refracts light and kind of makes rainbow colored, it gave me the impression it was that. The lines that show up as I am taking the picture are kind of colorful. I donno what the hell the problem is. I tried to open it but I couldn't figure out how to get to the camera part. I popped up the charging end and the keys were apart from the back but I couldn't get any further.

I guess it's because of moisture?
Or you put it near microwave or something?
My cousin always put his cell on the top of microwave... and after a while, the battery drains so quickly after a full charge...

Wasn't near a microwave, mine is a space saver one, it hangs under a cabinet.

I still think it's moisture the way it looks but I don't know, it's been more than a day. I noticed it yesterday afternoon. I'll give it more time but it doesn't look like it's going away at all.

Anyone know how to take apart the 903 and get to the camera?

See, the lines are colorful. They show up around shiny things and light, like the laptop's screen.

okay now that you have said that it shows up as you are taking a photograph then it is definately water in the lens. unfortunately I think you are SOL. Even if you can get the lens out there is no way you would be about to take apart the lens and put it back together. Maybe you can get someone to order you a replacement lens peice and have a professional swap it out with the wet one.

The best way is to send it to Sharp repair service, otherwise you're putting your 903 at risk... if some components are damaged or broken, they have the spare parts for you... but it seems like you're in US... so maybe there's no chance of having 903 spare parts since 903 is exclusively made for Vodafone... maybe Sharp US can hook you up with UK or Australian or other countries which has Vodafone...

I have V902SH schematic diagram showing how you can disassemble the phone, but I don't have the 903SH...

My general way of dealing with electronics that have gotten wet:

Power off

Take a hairdryer and blow hot air into the device, especially through any holes, or crevices, anything that could allow the air to flow inside.

/\ that'll take a while. Probably you'd do it for about 20-30 minutes, but if you feel like the device is getting too hot then stop and do it again later.

Store in a dry environment and wait for a few days.

My digicam once fell into a pond and I had to go retrieve it, and after the above steps it was fine in about 2-3 days. Same

Great...

I don't even know that it's water, it was just a guess.

I guess I'll contact Sharp US and see what I can do. This sucks that I'm in the US, this would have been a lot easier.

Ok, it's almost a week now, no improvements.

I've been talking to some people and one person said it might be the CCD which has gone bad. Does this sound reasonable? It does to me since the way it shows up with light. Is a CCD replaceable? Even getting one from Sharp would be hard enough, but can it be done by someone like me?

Do you still have a warranty on it?

Posted by: yis903unposubl

i spilled jamba juice on my digi cam and the same thing happened to it. it got better...a little bit. but the lines are still there (just not as bad). looks like you're @$$ed out buddy. you should buy a new one if you really like it before they go extinct, or really, really expensive.

Hah. I sold it a month ago and bought one off Timsta yesterday.
