How can I remove the logos from my 8260 and get it to read "Home" again, WITHOUT a data cable.

Change the alpha tag, since i dont remember exactly, search for it...

Now, depending if you have a GSM phone or a TDMA phone depends on how you would go about doing this... I'm almost 100% sure the 8260 is strickly a TDMA phone, so as dude said, you'd need to change the alpha tag... Here is the programming for it.
*3001#12345#
Nam 1
PSID/RSID lists
P/RSID 1
Alpha tag
Turn off the phone, and whala... That should do it.. I had to change some of the programming codes in a friends to do it, but 99 out of 100 times, it works the first time.

i heard you need to do field test first to get a code. but i guess that works too.

A field test is not needed... All that does is let the techs know where your phone stands on the network... dB readings and all of that jazz.

so what is the db
when it says the # on the first screen?

The dB reading is to tell you how far from a tower you are... Usually if you are above 100, you'll not have a good signal and not be able to use your phone. It's the first number on field test screen. It's the flutuating number.
