I am new to this so please don't laugh to hard; how do I enable the phone to connect to the net? I know that verizon wants to charge me for a feature that might be available anywhere and I don't think I should have to pay for it. I have seen some things about this but, being new to this, I am really not sure about it. Thank you for your help.

I think your biggest decisions would be:

1) How fast do you want to connect?
2) You will be connecting to the 'Net to surf with your phone right? Not using another device to surf with while using the phone as just a modem, right?

I don't really know, just want to know what I am capable of doing with the phone. I haven't really thought about it. It would be nice to use it as a modem, however, my laptop has a wireless card to pick up must signals. I guess I am looking at potential. Thank you for asking questions, I can be vague at times.

You can search on the forums for free WAP for Verizon .. but you'll only connect at 14kbps. At least you're only charged airtime use .. which would be free if you have unlimited nights/weekends and use it only during those times.

You can use the Mobile Web 2.0 .. but that's an extra $5.00/month.

Then of course, there's National Access .. which would be dependant on the plan you choose .. but an additional monthly charge + your wireless phone use.

I figure if you use your laptop for 99.9% of your mobile internet use .. and the phone just for emergencies .. free WAP is the way to go.
