SMS, Email notifications

Anyone have any idea why suddenly my phones is not showing notifications when I get SMS or Emails? when I go into my Inbox I see the new messages there and they show that they are unread, but I am not getting notifications (neither visual nor sound) on my homescreen anymore. I already Hard Reset the phone and still nothing!
