is it just me or does profimail destroy the battery life on everyones 910a? its a great program i set it to check every minute to emulate push email.

SEVEN Alawys On Mail works nicely on my P910a. Some users have reported it being a big drain on the battery. I've not had such an experience.

but thats a subscription service isn't profinmail is free

Yes, it's a subscription service. It also works, which to my understanding, means it's better than Profimail. :•)

If you're trying to get email from a business address you could try BlackBerry Connect with the $19.99 BlackBerry account from T-mo. They no longer support POP mail accounts.

Thought I'd mention it...

If you do find a free alternative for push email please post back.

Profimail is NOT free ... costs $24.95 on Handango. Good product ... and if you need your Google (gmail) Mail on your P910a, it does support SSL which the built-in mail client (sadly) does not.

And YES - it is definitely a memory hog. Most of us that use it do "not" leave it running in the background all day and do "not" have it check for new mail more often than every 5-10 minutes else it can definitely suck the ol' battery right down.

As for Seven/Smartner Duality ... my P910a (from Buy.com last month) came with a free version on the CD. I had it up and working lickedy split, connected my PC to our Exchange server and the corporate emails showed up on my P910a sometimes even just before hitting my PC running Outlook (Duality is a re-director, your PC must be on the network with outlook open). Was great for 2 weeks and then on a business trip just started to hiccup and be weird. I had to un-install it to stabilize my phone. Will probably try installing again later today or tomorrow and give it another go before work gets serious again next week ... I'll let you know how it goes if you're interested?

Happy Holidays!

So ... assuming you have Gmail set to allow pop3 access, the Profimail Advanced Settings that work for me are:
+ SMTP authentication is checked
+ SMTP port = 465
+ Use SSL for pop3 is checked
+ Use SSL for SMTP is checked
... all oher options left blank (or default)

I'm using the latest version, v2.36 and while it does work reasonably well (handles html nicely and attachments very well by using the QuickOffice apps which came bundled on my P910a) it is far from being a polished application:
- interface is way funky & non-standard in terms of buttons/actions
- doesn't save your SSL certificate choice, asking each time
- doesn't save your GPRS choice, asking each time.

All said, though; it may be the only game in town right now for UIQ access to Gmail (hey - we're a captive market)!

thanks man i have been trying to get that working for a long time and noone has had an answer. seems to work ok minus the check certificate. i did it once and then every time after it checked it without needing me to hit yes. so maybe its a thing of you restarting the program. but if u leave it open it wont ask you
