T809 Unlocked AT&T/Cingular WAP/GPRS Settings

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone know how to change the settings in the T809 to work with Cingular and what the settings are? Thanks

Posted by: Mango808

Simple, just type *#87927# and it will reveal the hidden Browser Profile menu. Drop down to 2 Profile settings, select it and you can either edit the T-Mobile GPRS one or drop down to Profile 2 and edit that one to put in the Cingular settings from the D500 Thread in the FAQ Thread or Section. Once they are in go back to the Current profile and select the one you changed then save and exit.

To change the MMS/Picture messaging, type *#87667# which brings you to the Debug Mode. Drop down to 4 Server settings, then 2 Profile settings, select it and either edit the T-Mobile USA MMS settings or drop down to Profile 2 and edit them with the MMS settings for Cingular found in the same thread as the Browser settings. Save it, and go back to the Current Profile and select the one you changed, save and exit.

You should do what the first post says and enable the proxies so that you can put in the GPRS settings. The other settings of disabling it is to not use the MEdia Net homepage so ignore that that post.

GPRS
Profile Name: Express
Home URL: http://device.home
Bearer: GPRS Only
Proxies: Enabled

Then go to GPRS Settings, dont worry about GSM settings they do not apply to us.

IP - 66.209.11.32
Port: 8080
APN: wap.cingular
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
(All upper case)
Password: CINGULAR1
(All upper case)

Then Save the settings and your internet will work. Also be sure to sett your current proxy to this setting.

Now for MMS settings which I am sure you will ask after you get your internet working.

Settings Name: Multimedia
Homepage: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Proxies: Enabled
Version: 1.2 (295KB)

Then go to GPRS Settings.

IP: 66.209.11.32
Port: 8080
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (upper case)
Password:CINGULAR1 ( upper case)

Try typing *#4777*8665# and go to 6 GPRS setting and change it to GPRS Mode and then try opening the browser again.

Pressing the "center" button should bring you to the MEdia Net homepage automatically if you put in the http://device.home as the Home URL. It will still look like it is going to T-zones/T-MobileWeb, as that is just the browser branding.

If it doesn't, it might be that the New MEdia Net homepage is the problem. I know some of my other unlocked T-Mobile and AT&T Samsungs had some problems going to it when they came out with it.

something still isnt working all i get is a network solutions page. I dont know.... uuuuuggg

put "cingular.infospace.com" in your favorites to go to media net home page

Hi,

I have read all of the posts here, and tried all the setting for the d500, and I cannot get web and mms for cingulat (not former att) working on the t809.

Has anyone been able to get it working, and if so, can you please share that info with me.

This is a great phone, but it is usless without web and mms.

I set up everything by following the instruction in this thread, and I was up and running fine a few days ago. Now, I can't connect, and get "Error: network unavailable." Can't connect to the bookmark I had for MediaNet (cingular.infospace.com) or any other URL. Grrrrrrr.

Posted by: bostonirishguy

Update: It appears that wap doesn't work only when I'm in the office (downtown Boston). Works fine at home, though. Not sure what's going on.

Posted by: Mango808

For those that did get it working and now no longer works, try check to see what the Current profile is selected as in the past on other Samsungs, when you turn off the phone, the phone defaults back to the Original settings when it is turned back on. I haven't checked my T809 as I am only using it with my T-Mobile account because I haven't unlocked it yet.

Not sure why it doesn't work at your office, but still does at your home.

Good to know Mango808, any way to fix it?

Not sure as in the earlier T-Mobile branded Samsungs, it would default to the 3rd Profile when you turned it on. The T809 only has the 1st Profile for the T-Mobile GPRS occupied. So if you aren't going to use T-Mobile as your carrier, then the best thing would be to just overwrite the T-Mobile GPRS settings with your own and then it will be the only settings to use.

My Cingular branded Samsung phones all seem to stay on the last Profile for the GPRS settings so I don't usually have to double check to make sure the one I was using last is still set.

I have a unlocked T809 used with Cingular service. I followed the directions in a Sticky about WAP/MMS Settings. When I try to connect by pushing the T-Zone button, I get (Error: Connection to server lost) can anone help? This is my current setting on the phone...

These are the settings I used. Check your proxy address and Login ID. Also, I don't think you can access MediaNet with the TZones button. I put "cingular.infospace.com" in my favorites to go to the MediNet homepage.

Posted by: diablokicks

I have a 809 that is unlocked, i entered all the info for the WAP and MMS, however when i try to send a message, it comes up with a screen that says Enter center at the top, and i have no idea what to put in there. Please help me!

I have a t mobile phone. I got the WAP profile to work again, but I can't sign on aim or any other messaging service.

Posted by: nc3g

Alright, I don't think this is in any way against any of the unlocking rules posted on this site. if it is please let me know.

My friend has a Samsung T609. It is a T-Mobile phone, and he is using it with Cingular currently. He would like to change the internet settings and text setting sin the phone so that he can surf the web, go on instant messenger (AIM and ICQ) and can send text. Does anyone know what the right settings are or can point me to a thread with this info. I tried to search for it, but being a Sprint guy I am really out of the GSM loop.

Thanks,
Anthony

HF 18, thanks for moving my post here, this thread has solved the issue. Also thanks to everyone here that provided the info!

Edit: Apparently ICQ still doesn't work, says "check your profile" any ideas there?

I have AT&T service and an unlocked Samsung t629 handset (T Mobile). I cannot access the internet and I have called AT&T 3 times, Samsung twice, and T Mobile twice. All three tell me that they need me to talk to the other ones.

AT&T gave me the "codes" or whatever that I guess I need to change the settings but they do not know HOW to change the BROWSER SETTINGS.

How do I do it?

Posted by: lauranita

Alrighty, this is my second post but I know a lot more this time around!

I have an unlocked Samsung t629 and the AT&T network.

Everything works fine except for connecting to the internet (downloading ringtones, using Instant Messenger...)

I figured out (no thanks to Samsung or T Mobile!) how to access the browser settings. I press *#87927# which allows me to change the settings.

So now what do I put in to make it work? I've tried several things but it won't work... Here's what I fill in to create a new one:

Profile Name
Home URL
IP address
Port
Linger Time
DNS (just check or don't check)
DNS1
DNS2
Bearer: GPRS or GSP
Advanced Settings:
APN
Login ID
Password

Thanks.

Posted by: lauranita

Well I guess I was added to this thread... but I don't have a t809 and I tried everything posted above and it didn't work...

Posted by: lauranita

Okay, sorry about all of the posts. This is my last one, I promise!

So I managed to figure out how to access the internet on the T629 (which IS different from the T809). - (If anyone needs to know this, let me know...)

However, I cannot log into MSN Instant Messaging through the embedded form on my phone. I can only do it by first going into MEdia Net. It is MUCH more cost effective for me to use the embedded version. So does anyone know how to make it work? When I try to log it says "Server not responding."

how do you access the internet? i've searching google for weeks!
