i870 Software Update - What it does

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Falkin'sMaze

Hello everyone, I figured I'd post this for all to see. Hope this answers people questions. This is from Motorola.

List of improvements in new i870 software:

Ø De-Bounce Mechanism for Transflash/Micro SD Card
To improve robustness of the Transflash/Micro SD card, Motorola has implemented a one second de-bounce mechanism to guarantee communication with the card.

Ø Animated GIF Decoding Support
The handset supports receipt of an MMS message from a Blackberry i7100 with Animated GIF attachment and supports the ability to open that attachment.

Ø Java “Send File App” Reset Fix
The intermittent reset condition while running the “Send File App” is resolved.

Ø Audio Routing with Bluetooth Headset Fix
The handset will properly route audio through the Bluetooth Headset Microphone while in-call with a headset attached.

Ø Video Capture Stop Fix
This release addresses the issue where the video capture stops intermittently at random intervals without a user initiating a stop action. Now the Video Capture Stop feature works only in response to incoming Telephone calls or incoming Dispatch calls.

Ø Added Trans Flash (TF) filename character support for widely used ASCII characters
This release filtered special characters, such as Hex 7F (Del), NULL, CTRL, and others, that cause critical radio failure while maintaining support for commonly used characters. The widely used characters supported in this release are: period [ . ], comma [ , ], semicolon [ ; ], quote [ ' ], plus [ + ], equal [ = ], open square bracket [ [ ], and close square bracket [ ] ].

Ø Audio Player Issue Fixes
The Audio Player supports the ability to resume play after interruption, defined an incoming call or the end button being pressed. A press of the “pause” option is not considered an interruption).
The audio player supports scrolling text for International languages on the external display for the MP3 player start up screen.
The user will be notified when attempting to save a play list that there is insufficient memory.
The Interim “Save” action has been removed from the “Play List Name Editor” Screen to provide a more consistent UI.

Same here.

Guess we can ask Moto, not sure they would care though...

the audio player still drains your battery while its suspended. so its actually for your benefit. it may take a while for your songs to load up but at least you will have enough battery left to enjoy it.

ok, having the same trouble with only loading 7 songs, and i have a 512 TF card. the songs were compressed using the same program to 112 bitrate to save space, total of 9 songs, taking up 24 mb. only 7 of them loaded, tried again - still no luck.

any ideas?

Posted by: jefbenet

strike that, upon further research - the file format wasn't the issue - names were just too long!

Where can the posted information be found? I didn't see it listed on the idenupdate website.

Which software update are we talking about here.
