RadioShack RAZR V3 $29.99 AR -- Jan 1-7

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

You heard me right. RadioShack will be selling the Motorola RAZR for 29.99 after $100 instant rebate and a $70 Mail in Rebate. This is only valid from Jan 1 to 7 and on NEW 2 year contracts.

Posted by: CA

I saw that one coming, RS is going to put a hurting on a lot of other places/ways to buy Cingular. Now if/when they get the true gadgets(2125 and 8125) and maybe some 3G stuff there may be some reorganizing going on.

Posted by: chonga

hopefully they have some decent deals on upgrades for existing customers

cuz the way cingular operates right now, there's no point in using your upgrade...you can usually get the upgrade price on ebay, plus the rebates are those stupid visa debit cards, not a check for cash.

so yeah, no incentive to extend my contract

Posted by: djnick

razr has been free with tmobile and cingular and a lot of phone shops since the summer in nyc, la, and sf, but i guess this a good price for a "safe" cell shop so to speak

Posted by: VTECaddict

i havent seen the radio shacks here (northern california) sell cingular. they all still only sell verizon and sprint/nextel. do they only sell cingular in certain regions?

Posted by: OYSTER RSX

anyone know how much it will be threw them without contract pricing? thanks...

Posted by: djnick

$350 without contract at rs

screw that. even the Cingular corp stores are selling the black Razrs for something like $269 with no contract.

Posted by: Flyinace2000

January all Radio Shacks are dropping VZW and are picking up Cingular

Posted by: chonga

you can buy razr now for $199 as a go-phone...but of course just pop your regular sim in and you should be good to go

=========

are you serious? who would pay 350 for a crippled cingular phone when you can get an unlocked one online for 250 with ALL features enabled?

Posted by: Flyinace2000

People stop complaining about the unactivated price. RS always has very high full retail price on phones. Why? Cause they make more money when they sell the phone with service. If you want an unlocked full retail price phone go buy it elsewhere. But if you are a new customer go to radioshack! Don't thread crap

i have had cingular in contract for almost a year and i asked a guy at cingular if i bought a gophone and put my subscription sim in what would happen and he said it wouldnt work. is this really true? i dont see why but is it?

Nope, not true. It will work. As far as Cingular knows, I still am using a Motorola V60gi, but I have dumped that phone a long time ago.

Posted by: djnick

u can put ur cingular sim into a go phone would work fine, but why would they tell it could, thats a lost sale and comision for the rep so of course they are going to try to sell you on an upgrade

Posted by: I have a phone

gotta unload that V3 stock somehow

On our pre-release paperwork, the 8125 is actually on the list of phones we will be selling. No word on pricing, but when it gets released I would be almost positive it will be available. And as for the 3G stuff, we are supposed to be starting to carry 3G handsets by Q2 2006.

Posted by: HottLikeWasabi

How much do V3s usually go for with 1 yr contracts?

Posted by: Flyinace2000

Hard to tell, our "rough draft" sale tags say 199.99 with a 1 year.

Thanks now I wonder if RS/Cingular will consider me new for that price. I could even keep my ATTW account if I have to. I am out of contract now.

Not only will the razr be $29.99 after rebates...but a motorola hs820 BT headset will be free after mail in rebates with the purchase of a razr!

Posted by: FritzOR

Hmm, this is very very tempting, especially with the BT headset. Will I be able to port over my ATT/Cingular go phone number(not a huge deal to change #'s but prefer same) if I go with their two year deal?

Or would I better just getting a go phone razor to keep the number or just get an unlocked one off of ebay (any place with reputable dealers for that??).

Basically I want to get rid of my att based go phone plan as its not that great compared to cingular's current deals and Im not a fan of my LG phone (which now tells me I have voice mail all the time, even when I dont).

TIA

The problem with buying through Radio Shack is that they are a 3rd party delaer. If for whatever reason, you cancel your contract.... rumor has it that you will owe money to Cingular and Radio Shack. I mean, there has to be some kind of catch for them to offering a deal like this.

I work at RS and we just finished our cingular display, and no there is no such thing, you wouldnt owe RS. And the GOpohone Razr works fine on Cingular, and we are gonna get the 8125 when released (standered Cingular pricing).

Posted by: Rex Orbis2

The only way I could see that they may end up owing money is if you cancel before you send in the rebates. You then wouldn't technically owe RS anything, you just wouldn't get your $70 dollars in the mail. If you already got your rebate check, though, I'd say you're clear to leave whenever you want, provided you enjoy an ETF.

What is an ETF?

Thanks

It's $199.99 for upgrades and migrations (I work at RadioShack, too.)

$29.99 is only for new lines.

Posted by: stevOh

Thats a HELL of a differnce between upgrades and new lines. Gheez!

Hmm, which means I doubt I could keep my go phone number. Its just new lines and not new customers right?

Thats a good question.

Posted by: djnick

i believe you can port go phone to a regular plan as a cingular rep was saying

Cingular is very serious about "false churn". Counting a current customer as a new one is a Bad Thing. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure your situation would be considered a migration.

You might be able to port to a prepaid with no termination fees, and then port back.

Hmm, yeah but porting to a prepaid go phone deal then back kills the phone deal with RS. Oh well, I've got an email into them. See if they respond to it.

Hmm, the response was "We understand that you wish to upgrade your existing services to new Cingular Go-Phone plan with the same wireless number. You may upgrade your services to Cingular Go-Phone or post-paid account retaining the same wireless number."

Then they listed stores "near" me (aka all are close to 30 miles or more away) to go to. There is a cingular store not 2 miles from me.

Posted by: kngthdn

You could port to a different prepaid provider (Boost mobile is excellent), and then port in as a new Cingular activation.
