Anyone know how to turn off the shutter sound effect for the E815 camera?
Thanks in advance. I may have missed this in the manual, no luck finding it there.

While in the camera, hit the menu key>Pictures Setup>and set Shutter Tone: to None.

...uh-oh....

i must be doing something wrong...
the only options i can scroll across are...

Chimp
Quack
Flix
Boing
Click

I can't find 'None'... is my phone broken? defective? do I need to hack to unlock this?

You could try checking the lock settings, and make sure "Settings" is unlocked. That's weird though... I've never heard of you not being able to select none.

It must be my provider, I see you are with Verizon (US).

I am in Canada, and the locked and unlocked features and functions are different. For example, some of your bluetooth features are crippled, and some other features in Canada are already unlocked.

I've heard (and can't remember where) that motorola had disabled the ability to turn off the shutter sound to help prevent possible illegitimate "secret" usage of camera phones in public.

I have the E815 with Verizon in ustate NY. My default setting was "none" with the shutter sound.

It might just be Canadians.

Verizon is American. I'm with Bell (Canada) and on another phone from Bell, the audio for the camera cannot be deactivated either. The 'none' feature was taken out probably for the same reason jbourne suggested.

It is Bell, Bell did it. Bell crippled Bluetooth, and took out the silent shutter feature. You will need to edit the Seem to undo this. Uncripple the Bluetooth and get rid of the shutter noise.
