USB composite device Error

I have a v180 and windows continuosly detects my phone as a USB composite device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What software are you trying to use with the phone?

yup i have it phone is detected as Motorola USB Modem until i start P2K and then it disappears and is replaced by USB Composite Device.

Does the software access the phone???

at first it does that windows pops up found new device and the program will no longer connect to phone

Try two things...

First though...go to device manager and remove the composite usb device..

1. try another usb port ...
2. Reseat the battery in the phone..

If that doesnt solve it ....its outta my realm

turns out it was a problem with windows server 2003 usb drivers. Tested on my windows xp comp and everything is good. Thanks steve for the help.

I am having the same problem except I am using windows xp. Can you provide more detailed information on how to resolve this problem? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

same problem here too, only get USB Composite Device errors. W385 phone and have tried everything, but I have yet to see someone post the cause of this error. Possibly a conflicting service?
