ya that was done, thought there was another type of reset or something.
Took the complete bottom end apart.

THe USB plug looks to be attached just fine no solder issues that i can see.

Where can i buy a replacement board? if there is such a thing.

I dont know if they sell them..but

cnn.cn

I've heard good feedback on them...or if its under 1 year....swap it with your carrier or send it back to motorola.

he took the phone apart, doubt he uses the right tools for the job. There for lack of chances on the warrenty.

Remeber people when you take apart your phones, Please try to use a high end driver, not to scratch the screws, scratches on the screws, are a key sign to manufactures that their products have been taken apart. Good thing Moto doesnt use Blue painted screws.,

Well if it's still under warranty, can't you take it back to rogers and say that it won't charge anymore? Leave out the part about dropping it, and if there are scratches... maybe try to colour them in? lol

ive got the right tools to take it apart actually. Didnt do any damage to it while doing that. Hes had the phone for more than a year i think so no luck in getting it warrantied.

Just noticed something else. With the phone off if i plug it to charge it will turn on but will not charge the phone.. If that makes sense.

People On This Forum Need To stop Encouraging Fraud On Here... He Voided His Warranty By Dropping It And By Taking It Apart

Posted by: steve8411

A cell phone should be able to sustain a normal drop of 3-4 ft. or so .....motorola tests for this ...

As for tearing it apart...there's nothing stated on the phone "warranty void if removed" or if seal broken"

So, Im not sure where you think fraud is coming from...

He paid for his phone, pays for service.....chances are they would refurb the phone anyhow.. so

RELAX

Read, I already said this phone is out of warranty. I just want to be able to salvage this phone for my buddy.

Im thinking of buying a phone off ebay for parts and see if i switch the transeiver board.

Good or bad idea?

Btw thanks for all the replies

opening a phone is EXPLICITLY against the rules of the warranty. anytime you have a warranty on something, you cannot break it open and start looking around.... reason being is that you could easily do something wrong in there to cause problems... you are NOT a qualified technician

Man...you need to lighten up!

Modding the phones like most of here are doing voids the warranty too right?

Are you here just to advocate for the cell phone companies or what?

YES... SEEM EDITING, FLEXING, ALL OF IT VOIDS THE WARRANTY! Every other thread on here is "help i flexed my phone and now it doesnt turn on"... that is the very reason that it voids the warranty! im not trying to advocate anything. I work in retail and I see the numbers from people who do fradualent returns and theft and people who ruin products and blame it on our company... IT TAKES A HUGE BITE OUT OF PROFITS...

look think of it this way and if you dont agree you have issues:

you build bird houses for a living, you make a decent amount of money and guarantee them for one year not to break... You are very confident in the quality of your work and maybe 1/50 truly break in the year and you gladly replace it without question

well Jon Smith comes, great customer, buys 2. He decides that he wants to add {insert your favorite thing here} to the roof of the birdhouse. He takes the birdhouse off the tree, puts it on the workbench. After that he puts the item on top and starts to nail it in. He is a qualified carpenter and knows how to nail however all that pressure starts to crack the joints that you had in place. He finishes not realizing what he did and 2 weeks later, the bird house breaks. Should you have to pay?

Everyone here knows the risks of modding their phone...

Its a debate that will go on and on...

You are correct that people will abuse the system....but thats why companies have policies in place..including yours. If you bend when you know something is a fraud...YOUR LOSS ..but the customer is happy and will keep spending his money with your company.

If you stick to your policy and tell John Q Public where to go....and you lose his business and whatever income from it ....you won the battle ...but will lose the war ...its still YOUR LOSS ...and the customer wont ever do business with you and will bad mouth you at every turn.

Roll the dice .... I own my company and many times have taken it in the rear many times... its a fact of life. Either deal with it and protect yourself with good policies or get out of the business. End of story.
