Help a newbie with a v360

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere (I have searched and much of what I have found is over my head), but I have a T-Mobile branded v360 and I want to enable the email client that Motorola says is part of the v360 software package. I am somewhat technical, but my experience is with MS Pocket PCs and Smartphones; I am new to the Motorola platform.

Can someone tell me the simplest way to enable the email client? I have the Motorola Phone Tools software loaded on my pc and I have managed to sync with Outlook, but I can't figure out the more complicated stuff (that I am assuming requires some other software). Thank in advance.

IF you used MPT and input all the email info (POP server, SMTP etc...) you should be good to go. That was all I did and I am receiving emails just fine.

I am using a T-Mobile branded v360 (in the US) and it seems to me that T-Mobile has locked out the email client. I tried to reactivate it using P2KTools, and I was able to make it show up again on the phone, but I could not find a way to save my settings after I entered them. I finally gave up and just installed the Mobile Mail java app instead. It works fine.

P.S. - be careful trying to install java apps with the usb cable! I wiped out all of the factory java apps using P2KTools and I had to manually reinstall all of the original files. However, I have now successfully installed apps by downloading them directly to the phone from wap sites.

Superfaron,

How did you reinstall your factory apps? If you have the mp3 player, could you send that to me? Mine got fubar'd somehow.

You have to manually reinstall the files. Do a search in these forums and somebody has them (that's what I did, but I don't have them anymore because my son has the computer I used).

How do you get to the email section then? On my T-Mo branded V360, I don't even see the email section within "Messages." Does that show up once you put in settings through MPT?

No, you need a seem editor or pk2tools to unlock this feature. Be warned, tho, once you unlock this part, everytime you click create new message in your messages, the phone will lock up. You will need to use the work around to get all this to work. Get the tools at motomodders.n*t.

I've been searching the forums for the last 3 days to no avail. I have however downloaded DAP (Digital Audio Player) 5.00.17, but it was for the Exxx and gave me "application error". Then, I found 5.00.15, which was supposedly for the v360, but it hung right after initialisation... >this close<

Oh, and these 2 where from Motorola GSM russia..... i'm not sure if there is a US version, but that's what i'm looking for maybe.

If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Maybe even a link to the direct topic....
