looking for 8125-can I get it with media net?

Will I be able to get the media net unlimited plan when/if I buy the 8125 from cingular? I've been reading that they won't sell me that plan with a pda phone...so I'm thinking I might as well order a 9100 (or torq) now and just add the plan myself. I really dont want to pay 39.99 for data, 19.99 is pushing it.

read up more, this question is asked 2 times a day conservitevely

Hmmm maybe I worded that poorly. My question is will they *sell* me the media net plan. I'm guessing you were pointing out that it will work...which is what is answered all the time. If I am missing whether it will be sold with a pda phone then excuse me.

as a rep i can tell you it shouldn't be a problem, if it is, just call customer care after activation and tell them the changes that you want to make.

better yet, if you're in the chicago market, pm me, and i'll make the changes for you.

I'm about 100mi south of ya, but my brother is in chicago and may be looking for an 8125 when they come out. I'll keep ya in mind.
thanks for the answer :P

Yup it should work. The only phones that media net does not work on is the Blackberries. Other than that, it is all fair game. I use the old Media Works Unlimited with my Treo 650 and it works flawlessly.

yes, technically you can do the Media.net thing on this PDA, but dont go whining if/when Cingular decides to send you a $700 cell phone bill because you used 400MBs worth of data in one month with this device.

its already happened to several people on this forum so be fair warned.

Yes, the key with MediaNet and Pocket PCs is to stay under Cingular's radar.

The most that I use in a month is about 40MB and that is about it.

but they won't have a problem selling it to me? The faq section mentioned something about them not liking to do that...which makes sense. It seems much easier to stay under the radar if they think I still have a v600.

Reps that are ethical will have a problem selling it to you, but I'm sure you will find reps who wont have a problem adding it. The main point is that PDA's should be on PDA connect plans and phones should be on MediaNet plans. FInding ways around the system and using the service as it is not inended to be used is unethical.

There are also pleanty of past threads that discuss this as well, but lets not encourage such discussion further. There are members who have posted threads complaining about $800 bills for usage related to this topic, so to say that its OK to do this is also misleading as you can get caught.

Here is the thread in the FAQ that discusses this very topic.
