9800 restarts after putting ringtones on with bitpim

I got my data cable for the 9800 and the drivers and I was in business.I figured out how to get bitpim to recognize the
phone and was off and running making my own tones. I
made a few tones then unplugged and made sure they
were there and repeated that process a few times. The
last time i did this however, when i check in my
ringtones from my phone it powers the phone off and
then back on. It does it only when i go to my
ringtones and not my sounds, where i have some clips i
saved as well. I cannot access any of my tones now. does anyone know what to do to fix this?

maybe it's trying to initialize the my_ringtones.dat file, what to do about this leaves me scratching my head, but that's my best guess at what's wrong

i would have the same kind of problem with the vx6000 and i used xingtone to make ringtones after it would ring once it would turn off and on again

my guess would be that it has something to do with the mp3 encoding. did you use bitpim to encode the mp3 before transferring it (because that works well)? I suspect if you dropped the mp3 on the phone through the filesystem or didn't encode via bitpim perhaps the bitrate or filesize is too high or the encoding is wrong. just some ideas.....

I'm having the same exact problem. Is there any way to fix it or should I return the phone?

you either have went over your 2/3 limit for ringers or you added to many ringer in the phone not the sd card i had that same problem when i wasnt using the sd card but was adding them there bitpim/win hex to maunaly put them in they can only be a certian size for the ringtone.dat file.

VX6100, VX7000, VX8000, VX8100, and VX9800 can all use the same cable.
