I have an MP3 that I want as a ringer, however, I've tried everything listed in the forums and it will not play on the phone. It will play fine on the computer. It's under the 2MB limit, I reduced the quality, I've tried Audacity (reduced bitrate, mono, ect..), Used the Ringtone application now, still no sound on the phone. It will not even play under My Sounds, when you hit play. I even renamed it to MID, still nothing. Has anyone ran into this problem?

I have the same problem. I've tried everything and yet there's still no sound. Even the stock ringtones don't have any sounds. I too have tried every trick in these forums and nothing works. I've deleted everything and reinstalled it and nothing works. I think I might wind up going back into Verizon tomorrow.

I have no problem with any other MP3 Ringtones I put on there, that's what's driving me crazy.

Check to see if the mp3 was encoded with a CRC (cyclic redundancy check). Mp3's encoded with a CRC DO NOT play on the 8100.

(If you are going to ask me how to check for this, I use winamp...right click on the mp3 and look at the properties....I don't know how to do it with other programs as winamp is the only one I use)

To correct this, you will need to re-encode the mp3 without a CRC. The encoder I use gives me this as an option in the encoding settings (check box labeled "CRC").

Hope this helps.
