Wasn't Danger supposed to announce a new manufacturer before the end of 2005. Were already in 06 and nothing has been announced...

When I replaced my SK2, they didn't have any Danger Hiptop 2... they replaced it with a Sharp Sidekick 2. I'm guessing sharp is the new one.

No, sharp has been making sidekick 2's.

Exactly Sharp and I think Audiovox were making the Sidekicks. All the sidekicks/hiptop's i've seen were made by Sharp.

Peter, do you have a hiptop 1 or 2?

Hiptop2/sidekick2 devices are made by Sharp in Japan.

hiptop1/sidekick1 devices are made by Flextronics in Malaysia.

ive seen hiptop 2 say made by sharp.. but peter could infact have a hiptop 2 that DOESNT say made by sharp on the back serial number label, it could very well be the batch he received had a diff label but was still made by sharp.
