Ok i know i've seen a few threads on how to play mp3's with your mp3 phone through the car stereo and i was bored today so i did it. I use a nokia 6620 and soon to be 6682 but it will work with ANY phone that you can find a standard 3.5mm adaptor for and plays mp3's. Most phones have the 2.5 mm output, so find yourself a 3.5 to 2.5mm adaptor (walmart or radioshack like $3) Nokia users have the darned pop port so just read below.

If your phone does NOT play mp3's you may still find this thread useful because you can listen to the person on the other line through your car stereo, similar to a bluetooth equipped acura or lexus or whatever. And you can just talk normally with your phone on your lap and the other end can hear you just fine. I know there are a few states that make it so that you can't talk on the phone without a handsfree and this beats buying a $50+ bluetooth headset when you can listen to the other line on your own car stereo, very convenient.

so here's what you need

1. An fm transmitter (i have scosche from walmart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...duct_id=4213101
which plugs right into your car cigarette lighter and it nice to look at too. THis one is for the ipod, but they have 3.5mm adaptor ones($17.49 or you can use a belkin one(http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...uct_id=2569450), $20 at walmart but these use batteries and only rated at like 10 hours per 2 AAA batteries)
NOTE: I prefer the scosche as i've already had the belkin and the belkin costs more and uses batteries, and looks crappy. Also no place to really put the belkin in your car, the scosche plugs into the car adaptor so it looks much better and less hassle for a place to put the thing. The belkin also may find interference if you put it someplace where there is somethign between it and the radio.

2. a 3.5mm adaptor or output jack to plug the fm transmmitter into.

Nokia- you need a pop port to 3.5mm adaptor, but i recommend a modded headset then you can just talk normally and use the car stereo as the loudspeaker. (this impresses my friends)

Motorola and audiovox- you need a 2.5 to 3.5mm adaptor. Much easier to get than the nokia pop port system. Find the adaptor at radioshack or walmart ($3)

Sony ericsson- you guys are lucky cuz i believe the s710a and w600i come alredy with the 3.5mm adaptor, so no work needed, just buy the fm transmitter

3. just sync the fm transmitter frequency to your car frequency (i use 88.1 mhz) and plug the 3.5mm jack into your phone's adaptor.

4. Play music! and also if you get a phone call while listenig to music, just simply hit answer and the person on the other line will be heard over your car's stereo system. And if you have a nokia modded headset, you can simply hit that little button on the headset to answer and end the call. Moto and audiovox users may have to hit send and end for the calls.

SO for those of you out there with v635, smt 5600, 2125, nokia 6230. 6620, 6682, 3300, etc. it's really a good $20 investment to make. And even if your phone doesn't have an integrated mp3 player, you can still use your ipod, zen micro, sony discman, whatever and it will work. Much cheaper than an Itrip and now not only can your ipod buddies do this, but you can too with your phone and also make and end calls over your car stereo.

Hope this helps some of you or at least gives you something to do (cheaply) if you're bored and draw some attention from your friends.
