903sh calling problems - impossible to place/receive calls, check/change callsettings

Please assist me with the following. I have purchased Sharp / Vodafone 903SH via the Internet (from a Canadian firm), which imports it from Hong Kong.
I am living in between the USA and Azerbaijan. The phone's features all work, it has reception, and otherwise is not defective. However, it does not accept any calls or makes any calls -- claims the recepient is "busy". If someone calls me, they hear a message that my phone is outside the network. Meanwhile, I get their phone numbers in the "Missed Calls" section. Thus, the problem is with the phone, not the network or SIM card.
I've tried different SIM cards (five different, from three different providers), reset the phone settings back to manufacturer's settings twice, etc., -- nothing worked to correct the problem. I suspect this must be a problem with configuration of the Call settings, barring/diverts. So when I go into menu Settings ==> Call Settings and try to cancel or even check the status of settings of either VOICEMAIL & DIVERT, CALL WAITING, RESTRICT CALLS, SHOW YOUR NUMBER, it simply says that there is a problem with network, and doesn't allow me to do anything. In fact, I can't even change the default network password -- same error message.
As said previously, there is no problem with network -- the very same SIM cards I used always work in other phones, such as Siemens SX1, Nokia, etc. The networks are always 2G GSM, such as T-Mobile, and AzerCell.
All settings in menu Settings ==> Security ==> MEP Locks are "Off".
The phone's firmware is:
1.02X
EMP: U100 5.0
OW: 7.0.2.1.e.1.101
APLIX: 1.17
What is the problem with my phone and how can I correct it? Do I need to purchase the Sharp USB cable to be able to correct this problem? Does the phone software/firmware need updating?
On the same note, it is ridiculous that such an expensive and also very promising/nice phone has so many problems (if one can judge from this forum's posts). Had I known, would not have bought it. Thank you for any help.
P.S. Also, when transferring mp3 or other files via BlueTooth, is there a way for them to be saved directly to the miniSD card, instead of the limited, small phone memory?

I think yours is due to a firmware problem. I would suggest you get your phone re-flashed. I've found that there is many phones out there that were sold over the net, were flashed with a tool that can do 16 at a time.. and when you do that many.. there is bound to be glitches here and there.
