Hi! i've had my I-Mate SP5 for a week now and, the initial set up for my email (through Time Warner's Roadrunner pop3) was super easy and it worked.

after a week, and a cold reset (clear storage), i can only receive emails, but not send any emails out. i keep getting an error message:

"System Administrator
Invalid Message recipeints

Your message " " was not sent and has been moved to the Drafts folder. the following recipients are invalid:

the email address to which i was trying to send an email to. "

Does anyone know what to do please? i've tried to re-enter the smtp-server's address, as well as pop-server's address. the smtp is the one with outgoing mail so i suspect that something's wrong there. but why would it work a week ago and stop working now that i did a soft reset/cold boot?

thank you in advance!

Have you tried another email provider that provides POP3 access? That way you can determine if its a particular providers SMTP server that is the problem or a problem with the phone.

I have Roadrunner in NYC... Unfortunately, you can not send emails through their smtp server using your cell phone (I was never able to so, to me, its odd you say it worked for a week), the reason being that your phone is not accessing the internet through one of their own IP Addresses. On Cingular, i'm using cwmx.com as my outgoing smtp-server. Try to find TMO's outgoing smtp-server and put that in your settings.

Mr. Crav4Speed:

thx for posting your answer/comment/advice.

i'm confused: may i ask what TMO means? you said "try to find TMO's outgoing smtp-server...".

thx.

tmo = t-mobile

try this as your smtp server (outgoing): myemail.t-mobile.com

this server may require authentication. If I can find out, I'll post.

T-Mobile (USA)
CARRIER SMTP

SMTP Server: myemail.t-mobile.com
Username: [your T-Mobile phone number followed by :1]
Password: [your T-Mobile password (same as you use for web access to your T-Mobile account)]

If the information above does not work for you, first try leaving the password field blank. Also, an issue may be caused by recent changes to T-Mobile's services (reported by some users). It appears they may be requiring you to register with their mail server via their web site. This is not an issue, but it also has to mirror the server that you POP to in order to get mail. The process, is roughly to register with T-mobile, which includes entering your POP (incoming mail) server and password. Once this is done, you can then use their SMTP server, because you get an ID and password to enter in for the
myemail.t-mobile.com server.

I think you need to double check the email setting, esp "outgoing mail address"
also, make sure you check "outgoing mail requires authentication"

I am using my qtek 8500 - sending and receiving email using the following settings for T Mobile and my earthlink email account.
incoming email server should be - your provider (I use earthlink) pop.earthlink.net
outgoing server - myemail.t-mobile.com

User name - usually your phone number xxx xxx xxxx :1 (no spaces - and make sure you add the :1)
Password ( this is your password for your ISP account ( mine would be the password for my earthlink email address)

Put a check on SMPT authorization

User group ( set to your provider ) mine is earthlink.

TWC roadrunner will not relay mail for any IP not on its network. i have an email server at home to get around this.

cell > home server relay > TWC > outside world

There was a descussion about a bug in Windows Mobile Email client over at Smartphone Thoughts. Have a read and see if it applies.

Aside from possible settings problems, there might also be an issue with corrupt messages. If there are any messages sitting in your outbox, delete them. If they are corrupt, they could be causing the problem.

Good luck,
