and i found a page that had the song i wanted in .wav format..so i downloaded it..and i sent it to my phone via my hotmail...now when i open my message (with my phone) i can hear the song..but how can i make it a ringtone for my phone? i would appreciate any help...thank you.

Can't do it through email. You have to use the data cable and a JAL program to load ringtones and wallpapers.

so even though i can hear the song through my phone when i check that e-mail...i can't make it a ringtone until i get the cable?.......can i just go to best buy..or somewhere like that to get it? and about how much is it gonna cost me?

Data cables can be bought at pretty much any Nextel store. Last time I checked they were about $20. But you can find them on Ebay for like a $1 + shipping.

WebJAL, the program to upload the rings/wallpapers/games, is free.

o.k. i have the cable..i installed everything and i was able to save my 30 second sample into a wav format..and now when i'm uploading it into my phone...it goes all the way..and then at the end it says communication error...try setting the baud rate in my phone..and i did that...
I have it at 8.000hz 8 bits and 1 channel..and now i'm just stuck..any help?

Try this on tell me if it uploads to your phone...download and unzip for the wav.

Test Ring

nope..it didn't work..i hit save as..and then i changed the file name..to testring.wav.....but i got the same communications error...

ok..i did it different..and it worked this time..but what about songs that i download from limewire...i'm able to save from mp3 format to wav..but there always ends up being a communication error.

Post or email one of your ringtones that won't load so I can look at it. If mine loaded fine for you (which they should), you're probably not saving the wav in the right format. Triple check, 8000Hz (or 8KHz), 8-bit, MONO.

I download all the songs I make for ringtones from Limewire also. Never had any problems in 3+ years of doing this.

i was trying to use this converter software that i already had..called mp3 to ringtone gold...instead of loading the 30 day trial sofware db....and once i did that it worked instantly...i'm quite sure i can do the same thing..with the gold..but i just can't figure it out....

While you can use dbPoweramp, I strongly recommened using Adobe Audition. It's a lot more easier to cut and edit songs and make them into ringtones with Audition. dBPA is only a convertor, not a wave editor.
