V551 No audio while charging

V551 has all audio muted when connected to a charger. Phone behaves as if it is connected to a car kit. Could this be caused by corrupt firmware & correctable by flashing?

No. Connecting a charger puts the phone into a mode where it bahaves as if it is connected to a Moto Smart Car Kit. It wants to route all audio through the headset connector &/or the CE Bus. The internal speaker is disabled so that incoming calls do not ring & if I make an outbound call the internal speaker is muted. As soon as I disconnect the charger the phone returns to normal.
