Do you need Chinese or Japanese character support? if not, I'd say go with the Euro firmware..

I have the SX833 HK firmware, it's great except no MP3 RingTone, Euro i would have to say is the best.

I will go with taiwan. I hv taiwan version, it is great. It support mp3 AND u can take off the provider logo. how can u stand the provider logo hanging there all the time?

UK is pretty good, probably the most stable one out there. there are lots of ppl who would say the japanese firmware is the best. but unforutnately there is issues with it.

I'm begining to hate my 902 becuase of the Jap. firmware cause of no mp3 playback or ringtone

add to that im not Japanese so i dont know why the hell i have this firmware

I read somewhere that the Euro version doesn't allow full-screen wallpapers... is that true? also, other than the taiwan version, which other f/w allows you to get rid of the operator logo?

i have japanese full unlock FW. i think it's pretty good, i've tried TW version and HK version, but i really like that logo off, three themes, answer machine, etc. only problem is the re-provision, but it's just one click to eliminate it. so i don't really mind. other than that, i can still play MP3 and movies in the phone, just had to convert to acc, it's easy. so i'd say japanese software.

I'm having a HK firmware but I would really love to have Taiwan firmware but I don't think there are people over here who would do it for me...

Taiwan version have its false. Like the menu is all screwed up. FOr my media player the icon is a calculator and something else, and for my organizer the icon is a music sign and a play button. I assume they mixed them up.

the version you have is not the tw version. it is actually a testing firmware used by Sharp developers. the real tw version works pretty well. i have that available.

yeah i think it's true because my nite shots suck .... but i haven't seen a comparison and i haven't seen a jap firmware v903 to compare yet ... so ..... just rumors ?!?!?

Hi

When you speak about HK (Hong-Kong?) firmware, is it the same as "chinese" FW?

This is what I'm going to buy, click!

So the seller said it's chinese FW (you can see it aswell from the languages it supports), do you guys recommend me to buy it, or should I get jap or euro -version? What I'm worried about is the nightshots, but I think the mp3 player would still be more important for me... btw. how is the player quality? Maybe compared to sharp TM200 which I've had?

HK firmware = Chinese firmware.. this was before Taiwanese firmware came out. Play quality is good. I'd recommend going for Euro firmware. Chinese firmware is useless for you unless you read/write it.

Yep, I know it's useless, but the reason is that chinese version is cheaper and really it doesn't matter for me cause euro version doesn't still have finnish in it.

So, whats the Taiwanese FW then, what are differences to chinese version? Can someone (for example you) "convert" chinese/japanese/taiwanese FW to euro?

i can convert it to euro for you yes. The advantage of having EUro is that it can play mp3s and mp3 ringtones without any hassle. has t9 dictionary. and goes onto the internet properly and palys games properly too.

the taiwanese firmware is different by that it has taiwanese chinese input. everything else is the same as the HK firmware.

Does the HK version play mp3s wihtout any hassle and and can it access internet and play games (not important though)? T9 isn't an advantage for me due to my language.. Although the HK version doesn't have scandinavian letters ä and ö, but I don't know if euro version has them either. If it supports german,swedish,danish or norwegian it should have. That would be an advantage but I can send mesages without them also, just have to replace them with A and O.

I have HK version, and it works no problems.
I can play mp3 & acc no problems, acc ringtones works.
Games works no problems, and i can use wap too.....All features works =)

its not supposed to in hk version?

The mp3 functionality on the Euro version is limited - it does not allow playback of high bitrate MP3's...

So I end up having to double check and convert almost all MP3's - which means I might as well be converting to ACC... IOW - I have not found the MP3 support to be as useful as I had thought when switching from the Japanese firmware.

I think I have the taiwanese firmware.. Its the one where the version number starts with A right? (Axxxx)

In that case I can do all those, 'cept the java apps that came with the phone dont work, but you could always just download more..

to check if is taiwan or not.. if yours has icons that do not correspond with the menu names. then it is the fake taiwan version.

the actual tw version does not do that and looks pretty much the sx833 version. except has chinese tw style language input.

The one i have SX833 (Smartone) does play MP3s and you can assign them to ringtones but you ned to shorten them first.
