BitPim BlueTooth Vx8100 - Cannot send data to phone

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently bought a vx8100. I am runnnig the most recent release of BitPim (8.0.4?). I am connecting through bluetooth on OSX.

I can read all of the data from the phone just fine. Contacts, wallpaper, etc. all show up. The phone appears to paired up correctly, and I assume that I have the right port configured, since I can read all of the data.

When I try to send the new ringtones, I get an error that says that the phone is not responding when bitpim is writing to the filesystem (I am at work, so I don't have the exact message).

When I look at the protocol log, everything looks correct until bitpim tries to write. It successfully reads a couple of .dat file from the phone, etc. But then it actually goes to write the new .mp3 file, the whole process just hangs until it times out.

The ringtone is a little large 150K, but I don't see why that should be a problem - I am using less than 1% of the 2MB if memory that's available.

It looks as though the phone is in some read/only mode. I have been looking through menus for several hours, trying to see if there is some setting on the phone that I need to change, but I can't find it. I poked around with Google and found that some earlier phones have some kind of "Always Data In" setting, but I don't see that on my phone.

Thanks,

Mike

Is it possible that the phone must be offline to Send Data? I haven't tried that.

Type #4357*4357, scroll down, find your "SW Version" should be T81VZV04, if it is not, you may need to have it updated with the V04 firmware. I have had good luck with the development release of BitPim on OSX, but recently upgraded to the official 8.0.4. I haven't tried sending data yet. But I think I'll give it a shot tonight. Other than pairing and pulling data, it sounds like you have it set up right, if you can pull data.. you should be able to send. Are you using the actual ringtone feature in BitPim or are you placing them directly into the filesystem?

I do have the right version of software. I will try taking the phone Offline before sending data tonight.

I am using the Bitpim ringtone feature.

Thanks,

Mike

I've never had to have the phone in offline mode to get data to send to it. I've heard there could be problems with bluetooth if it is on the charger. Sorrys I can't be of more help, sounds frustrating..

I just moved the file directly, and it worked just fine.

Thanks,

Oh cool, I was also gonna suggest to double check the BitPim>Preferences, there is actually a Read Only checkbox there. Which I'm not sure if it's checked by default or not, but something worth checking if anybody else has this problem. Cool man, have fun!

How do you move a file directly. I never had a problem with this until now. I have used bitpim before with no problem . All of a sudden it stopped working and I cant figure out why. You seem to be having the same problem tho. How did you move the file directly?

I think that I just drag and dropped into the appropriare directory in the file system.

choose a mirror. I've used this for awhile now and it works great.

Mike- Can you please describe how you got the 9800 and bitpim to work together via bluetooth?
I was able to use the phone as a modem and have the phone sucessfully paired with my powerbook, but I can not get anything to work with the phone on bitpim. Can you help?

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same problem pushing data back down to the phone, specifically the phonebook. I'm on firmware version V01...is this a known issue with V01?
